Adam Janosik
Elite Prospect posted that Janosik moved to a team in the Czech league, though it says "try out" under notes.

As of early last week no decision had been made on him or Schemitsch. Both have to be signed by June 1 or TB loses their rights.

How many contracts are we at right now, and what's your read on Janosik's signing chances?

ChaseSpace 05-10-2012 11:19 AM

We are at the 50 contract limit.

24 will come off the books(17 UFA, 7 RFA). There will be 4 contracts added July 1st bringing the total(for July 1st, 2012) to 30, leaving 20 spaces to re-sign any number of our 7 RFA's, outgoing UFA's, incoming trades, and free agency acquisitions.

Long story short, Yzerman is going to have a lot of room to play during free agency.

The projected cap-space will be $16.553million if the salary cap doesn't increase, but it most likely will so he will have more money to throw around.

it would suck to see janosik go. I still like schemitsch, but I think his chances are really slim to get an ELC

I think Janosik is 50/50. I'm not sure they think of him as a future NHLer. As Pete rightly points out, if they signed Milan and Landry, then you'd think they'd sign Janosik. I agree with this on the surface, though I think at the time of those signings they didn't think they had the depth they actually did/do now.

I don't think Schemitsch has much of a chance with his injury history and lack of statistical development.

Don't forget the Milan signing as well

Milan really hurts.

I think Janosik was a victim of timing. If this year's Janosik was coming out last year at this time he'd have a contract, IMO.

Milan was coming off a great rookie year. I think they thought he'd break out in a big way this year. He went the other way. I wasn't overly impressed with him at camp. Thought he was ho-hum.

I like Schemitsch more than Janosik at camp.

I still remember schemitschs scouting report from ISS. I was so happy that we drafted him.
