Time to get to the Point Edit: Done - 3 years at $6.75m

I'm starting to get a little nervous about another team throwing an offer sheet at Point that we cannot match. Why hasn't he been resigned? What's the hold up? Could someone like Montreal make an offer? They have cap space and a good nucleus of prospects...Am I wrong to worry?

Yes

Offer sheet

I think what most people must remember - the player has to SIGN the offer sheet for the original team to match it. Just because he is receives an offer sheet doesn't mean anything. From what I have read on social media, Point has no interest in signing an offer sheet. Let's just hope that's true! :noidea:

Someone out there can correct me if I'm wrong but this is how I understand it.

What's taking so long then? If he wants to be here, and they are offering a fair number, seems like it would be a done deal. What if someone offers 10 mil per year? Hard to believe he will take 7-8. To me it's better he doesn't get any offers from anyone...can only be bad.

Montreal has cap space and a good young nucleus of players. Point is from Canada....If you expect to be a top 15 team, maybe you would be willing to pay the price of the picks...but, I admit, I'm just nervous about time passing on all of this.

Kucherov didn't sign his second contract until October. I'm not worried about Point.

Season starts in October...

It should tell you something that A.)Montreal specifically targeted Aho because they didn't think they could do something Tampa couldn't match and B.) Point is one of the only RFAs not linked to offer sheets (and you hear about 4-5 others constantly).

The people that are still following the insider hockey information (mainly Pagnotta and Friedman) have said over and over that Point has zero interest in an offer sheet. Both of those guys today said that Montreal approached Point and he declined.

Relax. Breathe.

I'm pretty sure they're just haggling over whether to do a short or long term deal.
