The airfares (should they be needed) have jumped to LV. Around $750 round trip. I expect the cheapest seat to be around 500 given the prices against Winnipeg.

Probably going to pass and get to a couple here.

It's too bad that the airlines don't give more perks like in the 70's or else I would be hitting up my Southwest pilot neighbor who by chance sold the home and transferring to LV.

I just looked at the Lightning official resale site and there are tickets available in every single section except for 204.

Southwest is the choice as they fly nonstop. Well, Frontier does as well but their seats are like lawn furniture.

Just a couple of years back we would fly SW to LV for around 350 each. Airline consolidation has screwed consumers.

Consolidation of everything has screwed us.

The Physical price we pay

What has happened to the Bolts - It is a good thing that we got by Jersey and the Bruins in 5 games.
There was a physical price to pay in the Bruins series but the team had time to recoup. It was great to see the "W" against a hated rivalry and the lick boy went home really early. How sweet is that.....

But now the reality strikes us cold like an ice bath. Our boys have been getting pounded from game one. Every time Stamkos, Kuch, Point, Palat, Gourde, Johnson, Killer, Cirelli have come any where near a puck they have been body slammed. Let's face it we are a team of fast, skilled 180 - 195 pound boys. Our best hitters are south of the 200 level. Caps have seven including the likes of Ovi, Wilson, Beagle all north of the 210-220 level. They have made it a lesson of physics pound, pound some more and just keep pounding. The results series tied 3-3 and we have the last serve.

The concern for all of us or at least for those with an eye for reality. Our boys since that 3 - 0 lead in game five have been no where's to be found. We are averaging about 22-25 shots a game versus 35-40 from the other side. Hits have been slanted to the Caps. They and the coaching staff have stated several times they failed to show up and play 'their game'. True but much of that has to do with the Caps physical toll on us. Painfully I watched the replay we stopped skating, lost pretty much 85% of the puck battles in fact we were on the south side of every category outside of the Zamboni shots around the rim.
The only player who has shown up with some consistency has been Vasy. He has carried this team on his back in this series. He is the only reason that we even had a sniff of a chance in game 6 starting the third down only 1 goal and then the PP for us that was filled with better chances for them at our end of the ice. Yes we can whine about no calls, maybe icings, but the reality is about 10 minutes into the game we stopped skating, playing, pursuing, pressing or playing the elevated game of PLAYOFF hockey.

Tonight they get the chance to make us proud or once again fail the final test. Maybe we are the Caps of the past 13 years with Ovi close but no ability to get this over the finish line. I've yearned for a more physical team, a harder to play against team with a defensive scheme beyond unforced error, icings, soft play in the corners and lack of constant tenacity. They look worn down from the pounding that is catching up. The caps look to be on a roll or should I say the Ovi steamroll.
Our chance lies between the pipes - but to expect one player to steal that game with lackluster support is a huge ask. Well Vasy it is in your hands the team looks like the choo choo train going up hill with only half the steam required to complete the task. However, if you could give us the Bishop game seven shutout from a couple years ago that would seal the deal and the chant's will reign down from the Stands "Vasy, Vasy, Vasy" . Kitty's up fill the basket and let no chunks of the NBCOvi Drool to the back of the net.

Go Bolts

I'm proud of this team, win or lose. Only 2 teams are going to the finals. 29 aren't.

First elimination game of the season and am very proud of this team. Still anything less than a Cup is a disappointment.
