I'm sorry, but why in God's name would you want your children to root for YOUR childhood team instead of allowing them to be a part of the community where they live, fit in with the other children and root for THEIR childhood team? Why wouldn't you want to give them the same opportunity to become a part of wherever they live just like your parents allowed you to do?
Look, I've made the same mistake, so it's not like I'm not as guilty as anyone. I tried my best to make my kids White Sox, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawk fans. My daughter has a picture in a Bear's cheerleading outfit (that I bought her for Christmas) and my son went trick or treating in a White Sox uniform. But I realized that I was being totally selfish. It took awhile, but not only did I encourage my kids to become a part of the Tampa community, but I did the same thing.
