The American Hockey League today announced that Tampa right wing prospect Steve Downie has been suspended for three (3) games as a result of his actions in a game at Worcester on Nov. 19. Downie was accessed a major penalty for boarding during the 2nd period of Wednesday night's game, and subsequently fought Worcester's Jason Demers after the hit.
Downie was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 29.1 (supplementary discipline).
Downie will miss Norfolk's games tonight (Nov. 21) at Springfield, Saturday (Nov. 22) at Lowell and Wednesday (Nov. 26) vs. Springfield.

And this guy is supposed to be our answer for an "enforcer"? I want somebody with a little more self-control and hockey sense. Am I missing something here?
Not an enforcer by any means.
A shift disturber with some offense. I can't think of a better comparison than Sean Avery with better playmaking ability.

Think Jordin Tootoo with real offensive upside.

I believe it was Shark's defenseman Kyle McLaren that Downie boarded.

Be careful, you might incite a riot :coolwink:
Like DC said in his article today, we knew what we were getting so no one could possibly be shocked
