TSN reports (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=252644&lid=sublink01&lpos=headlines_main) the Lightning has officially signed former New York Rangers defenseman Marek Malik. The 6-6, 240-pound stay-at-home defenseman signed for a prorated 1.2 million dollars over one year.
Malik was 2-8-10 and plus-7 in 42 games with the Rangers last season. He is plus-67 since the lockout in 2004-05.
He is expected to add a much needed defensive presence with experience to the Lightning backline.
