Just got word Campbell is offically gone. Not that this surprises anyone I'm sure...

Also, anyone ever look at the Front Office (http://lightning.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NHLPage&id=17047) section on tbl.com? Has all (hopefully) the owners on there and little bios.

I've never met him but he had a passion for the team and seemed to love the area. He was someone I hoped would stay on but obviously that wasn't going to happen with the clean sweep.

I used to watch him sit in his box with his back to the rink watching Pistons games on TV.

I always figured that he had a job waiting with Palace Sports

Believe he was always Palace Sports' employee.

Apparently he was a big part of keeping the Forum always booked with events. Hopefully whoever replaces him keeps it up, unless it's not as big of a deal to OK Hockey. Heck maybe the ice quality would improve with a little less use, heh..

Well the story I'm now getting from my personal "lightning insider" is that he's out of his office, and out of the building, and will be kept on as a consultant. He'll be working from his home apparently. Maybe they'll keep him on for just that, booking and working the events which is a big money maker for them also.

Didn't Barrie take the role as team President and OK took the role of CEO?

Hoek, it was not hard for him to book the IP. It had been reported when PS&E took over that they were going to use there leverage of venues they owned to book their acts. Seems many acts wanted to play Auburn Hills. However in order to get in Auburn Hills some also had to book Knob Hill. PS&E stated that they were just going to add the IP to the mix, which they did.

Gesh, took them long enough.

I'll thank my "friend with benefits." hehee! :D
I feel lucky having a good friend working their for the F.O. And she got a promotion! Now they actually have her listed on the TBL website so that is pretty cool and exciting for her! I live vicariously through her. I told her when I retire (from navy) she has to help me get a job there as a seat usher so I can watch all the games!

Funny though some times I can't tell if she's screwing with me or is for real; like the Gratton resigning she told me that a couple days before hand but I figured she was kidding because she was (& still is) in love with the man in highschool.

Well... for anyone lurking around here from the TBL org, this info will pretty much ID the source of information leak -- if they care. I'm assuming you and your "friend with benefits" don't care about that.

And here's the Vinny to Toronto trade details straight from Campbell's mouth: http://blogs.tampabay.com/lightning/2008/08/vinny-was-an-ho.html

Wait until 590 the FAN and the Star pick this up...

I will say that the Antropov+Kaberle+Hogglund+Boyes return was better than what I heard rumored in the past. I think I had heard Antropov+Hogglund+1st. Still glad it didn't go down.

Now that Feaster's no longer with the organization, I wonder if a local beat writer will get him to talk about the Lecavalier for Luongo deal that almost happened with VAN?

Well there it is, in black & white from the horse's mouth (again). I hope that will shut up the fans of other teams who are convinced the deal was with their team and not the Leafs.

Haha, while I went lurking I just realized that pretty much everyone in the organization is listed on there. About 7-8 of my friends that work for the Bolts are listed with their various positions.

While I was trying to figure out if Campbell fired Dudley or if he left on his own, I did find this nugget from an old Jay Feaster interview. Has this ever been brought up for discussion?

http://www.andelman.com/jayfeaster.html

"Rick laid out a trade. But Mr. Davidson said, 'Here are my conditions before you do that," Feaster says. "The deal Rick had on the table didn't accomplish those conditions. It was a deal I didn't support. One of the things Mr. Davidson said was that we had to condition the marketplace as to why we would do that. We had to lay a foundation. This (Lecavalier) was the franchise. It was something that didn't make sense. There was a conference call and I was questioned by Tom and Ron. "Does this trade satisfy Mr. Davidson's needs?' I said, 'No.' Rick saw that I didn't support him. I wasn't on his team. That's when our relationship started falling apart."

Ron Campbell Assumes Role as Senior Advisor to the Ownership
Will Remain Executive Vice President at Palace Sports & Entertainment

TAMPA BAY – Ronald J. Campbell has assumed the role of Special Advisor to the Ownership, the Tampa Bay Lightning organization announced today. Campbell, who became president in 1999, when William Davidson purchased the franchise, remains in his role as Executive Vice President for Palace Sports & Entertainment, based in Auburn Hills, MI. In his new role with the Lightning, Campbell will work to develop new business and community relationships, nurture existing relationships and work on NHL governance issues for the ownership led by Oren Koules and Len Barrie.

“We thank Ron for his willingness to remain engaged in the Lightning operation while we continue and complete the ownership transition and start to make our mark on Tampa Bay,” said Oren Koules upon making the announcement. “His experience in building the franchise to what it is today is invaluable to us as we look to grow upon what is already here.”
