Not exactly big news, but he was NF's leading scorer last year.

I've heard Khabarovsk is lovely this time of year. Too bad he wont be there this time of year!

Wanvig was the leading scorer last season for Norfolk. But he also led the team in bad attitude as well. He had notable clashes with Stirling and was benched for time. He didn't buy into the system being run in Norfolk and just wouldn't play it. He was a puck hog and was a defensive liability. It was only until the last 10 games of the season that he seemed to get his head on straight, but by then it was too late.
Off the ice he was an engaging guy and had his own group of local supporters. But he only wanted to play the game his way which made him a liability to the new coach of the ADs, whoever that might be.
While I harbor no ill will towards the man, he will find that the Russian league doesn't look kindly on those players who thing they know best and will play the game how they want to play it, system be damned.
But I do wish him well and hope he can put his career back on track.

I've been to Khabarovsk before. It was more beautiful than Vladivostok. Took an overnight train on the Trans-Siberian up from Vladivostok. Hardly slept three winks all night in that sleeper car. It felt like I was on the Polar Express all night, just inches from toppling off a spiraling cliff-side track. This was summer of 1996 and I spent the weekend in Khabarovsk. I remember it having a lot more trees than the concrete jungle of Vladivostok.

I'd rather punch a baby than be in that place.

Fitting. Henrich was Feaster's first ever draft pick as the Lightning GM.

I just would NOT want to be in Siberia during the winter. No thanks. I'll stick with Florida! I'd even take Norfolk over it. :coolwink:

Norfolk has been compared to a lot of places. However, one of those is not Siberia. No we are not Florida in the Winter, but all in all it is a mild climate with very little snow.

It's sarcasm Randy. I've been there through your winters. It's not that bad at all. Actually funny when the one little snow fury happens every so often the place is a mess! Think people didn't know what snow looked like! :coolwink:
