LOL, don't think I've ever seen that without the beeps. :D
I tried to find shut yer yap too, can't believe that's not out there!
Tried finding some info on starting goalies & whatnot, nothing's published yet. Torts of course doesn't want the focus on himself so he's not saying much. At the risk of bringing out the bashers & getting this OT, great little article about Prospal (http://www.tampabay.com/sports/hockey/lightning/article1054696.ece).

Nice article on Torts in the Trib today, sorry I forgot to post the link. I would love to see the shut your yap interview again. That was great Torts.

Tocchet is starting to wear thin on me......and in a hurry. He pisses me the F-OFF, by continued alliance with Crycheck.

The blundering mis-management of the D is the reason I'm hesitant to chime in on the "praise for Lawton / Tocchet" threads.

My favorite part of the "shut your yap" scrum is the ridiculous "Happy Birthday" sign behind him in the shot. So bizarre. I never figured out what that was for - some kid's party at the Ice Sports Forum I guess.
They clipped off the part where he says it's chickens***.

Which explains why Lawton gave him a pay raise, would they do that if they planned tp trade him?

you miss blatant calls because you have been paid by the Rags to do so or the head office in Toronto tells you the importance of having a major market team in the playoffs. that being said, the Bolts are playing the type of hockey they are capable of and I LIKE IT! did anyone see the rag fan flipping off the camera when they were showing Torts..the idiot was right behind the bench. Nice to see Chewy and Downie get goals tonight, now would like to see the 3rd member of the DWS line get a goal also. I also saw a sign of the apocalypse tonight...Kraj made a good play early in the 1st period and made a nice shot on goal. Mez playing very well and earning his keep as is Lundin. Vinny is playing tough to night also, but geez shoot the puck don't make that extra pass. OK let's win the 3rd period and send the Rags back home.

20+ minutes tonight for lundin wow. He played pretty well, besides the point that he got run over, but he took the guy off the puck so, more than you can say for Krajicek...

#2 star tonight. This is why this guy is on the roster and kudos to Tocchet for moving him to RW to find a way to keep his RH cannon on the power play unit w/o his questionable defensive play compromising the blueline.
Big night for Szczechura -- playing through a shaft to the nose to score his first goal. The Wright-Szcz-Downie line continues to be effective. ZK winning big faceoffs, and sticking up for teammates.
The "goal scorers" still passing up too many shots in the slot for pretty passes.
Another great game by Meszaros. Shooting and taking the body. Krajicek played well until he decided to play goaltender instead of Callahan, leading to the shutout spoiler with 2m left in regulation.
Solid win for the boys, and Rick Tocchet was a pleasure to look at on the bench. ;)

I wish they brought this game on Wednesday. Oh well..
I'm glad I didn't find myself missing Torts here. 5-1 is a pretty emphatic statement. Shame they couldn't help Smitty get the shutout.

Yeah, too unselfish...even when you're up 4-0 Stammer, bury it!!!!
Mez is turning the corner, i hope
Victor was much more decisive tonight.
Krajicek was only average.. Heck, he set up a Rangers scoring chance in the first period with a no-look pass.. Insert Ohlund for Kraj and move forward..

Gentlemen, did you mean looking behind Tocc? there may be a cleavage in your writing.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP)—John Tortorella tried to put his first game against his former team behind him in a hurry Friday night.
“We were simply outplayed tonight, from the top line to the goaltender,” the intense coach said after his New York Rangers’ 5-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
“I’m not going to dissect the game tonight because we were outplayed and the best thing about tonight is we play tomorrow and we can push this one right out (of our minds). We stunk tonight! It was an embarrassing loss! Let’s leave it at that.”

Lundin is still playing with his lack of physicality, but man is he looking gooooooood out there. I'm loving the kid on the ice. He plays with a lot more confidence now, isn't afraid to let a shot go, and is just playing very solid overall.

I was looking through the stats for Mez recently after someone had mentioned he is more of a defensive defenseman now, and I didn't want to believe that, but looking at his shooting %/shot totals/blocked shots, the stats are really starting to lean that way. Its like they wanted him to work on his d-game first, and now they're trying to wean his offensive abilities back into the mix. He came out firing from the start, too. Loving his play.

No offense to the usual dude who sits there with the blue TB jersey, but, how about we let the pair of, um, girls sit back there instead?

I also like the play of Lundin, always have. He is not physical, but just seems to get the job done no matter what the task may be. We all know he is going back down, but with him playing so much better than a few others currently on the team one has to ask why. Now if they can just move someone to make some room.

It's all been said already, but I will just add that they didn't give the Rags much at all and King Henrik was like a flopping fish for most of his time in the game. I watched the Rags put up 7 on Columbus a few nights ago, that team was nowhere in evidence last night.
Oh, and Sean Avery is a piece of garbage. WTF was that hit on Marty from behind?!? Between that & the 3 or 4 high sticks on our guys...the Rags play some undisciplined & dangerous hockey.

I like how the game went from bad to nasty with the snap of a finger right there. There were, what... about 14 guys yelling from the bench? They were all ready to go to war for Marty.

Lundin had more than just an above average game. He had a great game, IMHO. We all know he isn't a really physical player, but his style of game was exemplified last night in a play where the NYR shooter was coming down the left wing with speed, and Lundin forced him to stay wide and take a low percentage shot. Nothing flashy, but it gets the job done. He looks way better than two seasons ago.
Wright had a pretty good game, too. He's starting to open some eyes around the league with his good defensive play.
I might have to cheat on my fiancee with Steve Downie's game. It's that good.

Drove over last night for our second game of the year. It is so nice to be able to cheer for the team at many points of the game as opposed to last year when the game seemed to be out of reach by the time the first period concluded.
During the game I was thinking that Lundin was really good and couldn't help thinking that nothing bad was going to happen when Lundin, Hedman, or Walker were on the ice. I seemed to recall a generally unfavorable opinion of Lundin on the site in the past, no specific comment just a composite unfavorable opinion. During the game I was wondering if some of you were all wet and 180 degrees off on him. However, reading some of the comments in this thread it must be that his game has improved. I thought Walker was good as well and his plus/minus seemes to bear that out.
We`had a great time at the game and look forward to our next game on December 28. Do not look forward to I-4, however.
I always thought lundin was one of the better defensemen on the team, most people thought he wasn't physical enough and strong enough. He seems alittle stronger now but doesn't play the physical game still. He is kind of a warm milk dman but if he can become more offensive he'd be a pretty good dman. (don't really see this happening though, atleast nothing spectacular)

Lundin's a smart player, generally well positioned, and has a good first pass.
That being said, he doesn't bring a physical game and he hasn't yet brought an offensive game in a 110 NHL games. Until he at least brings one game or the other, he'll continue to be a Top 6 fill-in. He's in the lineup because Ranger and Ohlund are out, and he'll have to start bringing some consistent offense to distinguish himself since he doesn't take the body and can't eat big minutes against the opposing team's best/strongest forwards.
I like him. Always have. But he needs to hit another gear. He's not better than Meszaros, Hedman, Ranger, and Ohlund. He doesn't play physical like Walker and Smaby. So, his "competition" is David Hale and Lukas Krajicek, and he has to distinguish himself above those two.
Hale plays more physical, but Lundin hasn't outperformed Hale offensively -- and he should be. Lundin and Krajicek have about the same softness in their play, but neither are contributing offensively. I think Lundin makes better decisions in the defensive zone, but Lundin needs to more to push pass the organization Krajicek-preference and the fact that the organization is simply not going to pay Lukas $1.5M to play in Norfolk.

One of the few hockey times I do not agree with you Tim. I think as long as Lundin can break up a play and shut the other team down he does not have to be either physical or offensive. Now would I want a whole team like this, no. But I do think that he has to be either one or the other. He just needs to be a good shut them down defenseman and he has been that so far.
