fine the damn blind officials instead of fining a player for pocket change. seems kinda silly.
i don't agree with this though:
Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau reiterated to D.C. reporters Friday that he believed Cooke was trying to check Tampa Bay's Michel Ouellet
what BS, he knew damn well who he was targetting, unless he's blind too

Gee, I always get Ouellet confused with Vinny4! Duh, let's see, same physique, same style of play, same sweater #. Oh, forgot that only 1 of 'em has facial hair. :duh:
Not sure who needs glasses more now, refs or Caps coach.
Boudreau is a good coach, but every time I look at him I think of the "High Talker" on Seinfeld (Pledge Drive episode).
(I guess the actor, Brian Reddy, was also on Star Trek)

:iagree:
I will give the NHL some credit though. At least we got a little smidgen of recognition of wrong doing and a bit of "star treatment" for once from the league. But Cooke should also sit for a game (a key one at that) and they should hurt the ref's pocketbook since they admit the call was missed. Or maybe they did and they can't announce that part of it?
It's perhaps settling for far too little, but I feel a tiny bit better that something was done instead of it being completely swept under the rug like I assumed it would be.

I saw this posted on tbo blog and I had to share this.

"Where's the fine/suspension for Torts sending out 5 goons on a 4 man unit at the end?
How about accountability for the bs non-goal call on Laich's tally.
Enjoy the golf season."
Goons??? Lessard, Ward goons :lol::rofl::roflmao:
Maybe they can recommend some good courses since it's been a while since we've been golfing this early.
Don't you have to clinch a playoff spot before you can say that?

Yeah, i saw EJ Hradek on NHL Live also say Laich's goal should have counted. What? Ok, you can just push a guy into a goalie and it's ok? It was interference on Smaby anyways and - of course - it wasn't seen by the refs.
Good for the NHL for recognizing the mistakes. Those refs should be fined or suspended, too. How could they miss that.
Cooke is a puke. IMO, he was thinking Ouellet was gonna give Vinny the puck there and he wanted to lay him out when he got it from the blind side. He was anticipating and being reckless, which should be a one-game suspension.

Not to mention the last time they were in the playoffs, they won the first two games in Tampa and then promptly lost four in a row. I'm looking forward to the traditional "choking dogs" column from Tony Kornheiser when the Caps figure out a way to come from ahead to lose another series.

Awesome, can I get a job in the NHL so I can slug guys for no reason? Even I could afford a $250 fine.

Suspend the guy, Campbell said he should have gotten a 5minute major, which would have changed the nature of the game at that point, so make it even give him a 1 game suspension during the Playoffs- if they make it in. I just hope our guys remember this and hit that guy a few times, maybe Roy will be out of the doghouse by then.

lol, he'd be lucky to make another nhl roster.
anyway, apparently don cherry went off about this hit during coach's corner tonight & said all kinds of nasty things about cooke. i'm sure it'll be online later, but was wondering if anyone's already seen it?

Please don't say that. We have had enough crap luck this season to last a lifetime.

Let's hope for a bionic Vinny, a hockey terminator even tougher than before. One that spreads the Cookes of the league like peanut butter on the boards.

That it was the second to last game of the season kills me. He has a lot time to heal here. He may have to become a bit more of a shooter than and a physical player (ala Shanahan) for a year, but I'm confident he'll be back strong. It may force them to put more of a power guy on his wing to go into the corners.
