Didn't know if this was the right place to put this, so please move it where necessary.
Noticed this on the Regina Pats site.

Does The NHLPA Allow 4 Games in 4 nights?
Maybe Preseason makes if differant.

Cuts are going to come late this year. They are going to need bodies for those 4 games in a row.

That schedule sucks. By the time the team gets to Winnipeg, they're going to be exhausted.

Does the "away" team get compensated by the home team (or league) like when the SEC powerhouses play the Coastal Carolina's of the world the first few games of football season to "warm" up?
Not trying to start something, but I wonder if the Lightning (or any other team for that matter) get some kind of compensation for agreeing to play away games during preseason? Just thinking about following the trail of money...

We could be the "home" team for some of them too. I'm guessing that they figure that they sell more tickets in the middle of nowhere than they do for preseason games at the Forum.

For the neutral site games, that's a very good question. For the other away games, I don't think so. Like Donnie says, given the attendance at a lot of the preseason games I've been to, they're better off being out of town.
That's a pretty ridiculous travel schedule to give them right off the bat though, don't know which scheduling genius thought that up. 4 games in 4 nights is also crazy, but I'd bet they'll rotate guys in & out.

Maybe we'll actually get to "see" some prospects in some games. Hopefully, there will be television somehow/somewhere.
One home game makes me a sad panda.
But at least they're not going to Europe.

I wish they were. Still never seen a live NHL game:(
Pretty sure they get compensated for those neutral site games. I've read that somewhere in the past.

Bingo! Thank you, DC...

By the time the Lightning finishes a grueling four-games-in-four-nights preseason road trip, it hopes to have a good handle on the makeup of the team.
It also will have collected enough money, general manager Brian Lawton said, to pay for a good portion of overall training camp costs.
"We actually make money off these games," Lawton said Tuesday.
That is because three of the games — Sept. 21 in Regina, Saskatchewan, against the Senators; Sept. 23 in Loveland, Colo., against the Coyotes; and Sept. 24 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, against the Oilers — are Lightning "home" games for which the team will be paid a lump sum by game promoters.

That's a good point about the money... you practically have to give away tickets to home preseason games. They probably make more money traveling to those places, far away from Tampa as they are, than they would hosting a game.

According to the Winnipeg Sun, the TBL have committed to playing their "stars" for the exhibition game in Winnipeg -- Lecavalier, Stamkos, St. Louis, and Ohlund will all be in the lineup.

Whatever game is on the 23rd looks like its going to have a "youngish" lineup..

hopefully that means the "stars" will be playing on the 22nd.
They might as well put Lightning (SS) on this like they do in baseball spring training games. They're totally going to be sending out split squads on different planes. I guess this is good for the juniors. The Lightning will need shear numbers to play this many games that week.
The game in winnipeg will also be on NHL network in HD (its the game thursday of this week)

Way to go, youngster!!! 1-1 courtesy of Ashton/Downie/Walker
Like in Dallas, there's no way TB should be competitive in this game based on the lineups.
Check that - with 1 shot this period, perhaps they're not.

End of the 2nd. ?3? shots from TB.
Refs are again rusty, messing up icing and penalty whistles.
They're hanging in there, despite the lopsided rosters.

2nd period was all OTT, with the exception of Downie and Ashton seemingly playing every shift. All over the ice. I liked what I heard of Matt Walker. And Niittymake, of course.

OTT 3-1, but the Bolt PK is 7 for 7. Ryan Craig has been a PK monster.
Neal took a run at Downie, and then turtled after Downie came after him. At least Neal decided to finally drop 'em and Downie body slammed him.

You'll never have to worry about Downie standing down to anyone, thats for sure. The mismatch against Byfuglien last year was a prime example.

Garrioch article:
"I didn't get him as good as I would like to have," said Neil. "He drops his gloves with me and then he says, 'Oh, I'm not fighting.' He tried to flip me. I got him with some good ones. I wish I got him with some better ones.
"I'm not concerned at all (about supplementary discipline). I finished my check. It might have been a little late. It was a clean hit. It's one of those things. He was just lucky he was able to get me down before I got going."
Asked if he thought he would hear from the league, Senators coach Cory Clouston said: "I don't think so."

Neil didn't turtle! Never would've believed it if I hadn't seen it, wonder if someone told him to quit being such a wussy dirtbag.
You give some silly smirk and celebrate when you have a bloody face and clearly lost the fight? It's something to celebrate when you're just able to "not completely suck" against a more favored opponent?
Shades of ut-UF.
