Which of the above will NOT make it into the playoffs? PICK TWO
TSN has a nice chart with remaining games to make figuring this a little easier.

I went with FL & Buffalo. I was surprised to look at the standings & see how very close the Rags are coming to falling out, however. Torts probably wanted to kill them after some of their stupid play last night. I pray they hold off FL, who is facing an inexplicably hot Atlanta team tonight.

Buffalo needs to win out and the others 2-2-1 I believe, at worst. Was really hard to, but I was rooting that they'd knock both Montreal and the Panturds out

Pretty tough to decide on this one. NYR has a pretty tough schedule remaining. I don't think Buffalo can pull it off with their schedule. But who knows.
For me it comes down to NYR vs. FLA for that 8th spot. NYR has PHI twice, conference leading BOS, and MTL, which I can see them winning.
FLA has ATL twice, and one of those two games will likely give them the two points separating them from NYR - plus the game in hand.
I'm gonna have to go with NYR and BUF .. but I hope I'm wrong .. so wrong.
Interesting part if the Rags don't make it .. they bought all that talent the past couple years and would AGAIN not pay off for them. Will Sather ever learn? Gomez and Drury are in no way playing like they should.

It makes me very happy to know that Florida is not going to the playoffs....and will lose Jbo for nothing. That's a gamble that will set them back another season or two.

I have to question the intelligence of whoever voted for Pittsburgh to not make the playoffs.
Even if the Diving Crosbys of Steel City finished 15th in the East they'd make the playoffs. Leave it to Gary!

Florida loses...to Atlanta :)
that would probably have changed my vote.
Who the heck picked Carolina? They've pretty much clinched.
Atlanta's playing great lately... I hope Waddell takes notice and tries to "improve" the team.
More athletes that should be unhappy... Vokoun got FLA to where they were and the usually smart DeBoerr pulls him over the last week in favor of a career backup (with good numbers). You ride the horse that got you there.

Rags just lost 1-0 to Boston. Buffalo has NJ tonight at home. This last week should be really interesting.

'Canes clinched last night, Philly is within 1 point of clinching and Buffalo lost. Think they might be done.

Has Montreal turned the corner or are they just living off a sked heavy on home games against sad-sack teams? I'm a big fan of the energy Lapierre brings to the Habs but I wonder if this is a one-line team with a tonne of playoff question marks.

They won't last a round IMO. I wasn't impressed with them last year & I'm less so this year.
One week til we get to do playoff predictions, I'm gearing up already. :)

SPs up 3-1 over the Pens right now :( Listening to the FSN Florida crew is so painful, the Panthers allow 19 shots in a period and "it didn't look like a 19 shot period". :duh:

Sabres lose, Habs lose AND lose Markov for 3 weeks (basically, out for the season :p) and Schneider indefinitely. They're sitting at 92 points, Rags & Panthers have 89, Sabres 85. All have 3 games left, here's the remaining opponents:
Habs - Rags, Bruins, Pens
Rags - Habs, Flyers twice
SPs - Flyers, Thrashers, Caps
Sabres - Leafs, Canes, Bruins
Going to be an interesting week, though the Sabres really need one of the Rags or SPs to flame out badly.

Buffalo wins a tiebreaker with the Rangers because they would have more wins, but I don't know about Florida.
The Rangers could blow it - Philly still has home ice in the first round to play for.

They got into this in ridiculous detail during the SPs broadcast I suffered through, but I only remember that first tiebreaker is wins, 2nd is season series.

Just stumbled across a rundown on NHL.com of who can clinch tonight (mostly Eastern teams).

Florida lost, Rags won. :)

7. Montreal, 2 GR, 92 pts.
8. NY Rangers, 2 GR, 91 pts.
9. Florida, 2 GR, 89 pts.
10. Buffalo, 3 GR, 85 pts.
That's about all she wrote for the Sabres. They have to win out and the Rangers have to lose their last two in regulation. Then they would have identical records and the Sabres won the season series. Also the Panthers cannot get more than one point.

Yeah, Buff has needed help for a week, now they REALLY need help.
They're outside of this "race" but Carolina beat the Isles 9-0. Beginning to think the 'Canes might go somewhere this year, they're getting hot at the right time.

Did you see some of the stats from that game? Carolina had 10 power plays to NYI's one, and they outshot the Islanders 57-12.

No I hadn't seen that, must have been one hell of a one sided game.

It was so bad you'd think the Islanders were throwing the game. Those are the kind of stats you see when Canada plays, like, Japan in an international game.

Well, most of us did pretty well here. :D There may be a seeding change or two given the last few games as the only spots set are 1-3 right now.
