haha I did .. it's .. interesting. It's like a practice ground for message board trolls. I don't think there is anyone legitimate actually posting there, just seems like a bunch of flaming. It's not too much worse than what is posted on EE and Cristodero's blogs.

Yeah, this is the best board I've been to, of any stripe. I think I originally went to the SSN board when the really old Boltsmag board went down. Was that what it was called? I don't remember. I do remember that Chad was KCCanabolt. I think.

It's really too bad. If SSN had paid any attention to it (changing the color scheme, kicking out trolls) there wouldn't have been the need for a BP board. I guess it's probably best that they ignored it. Otherwise we wouldn't have this sweet place that I spend way too much time reading.:)

I would also like to thank Tim, Chad, Pete and Sotnos for putting together the site and the board. :thankyou:

Tim's the one who deserves the thanks. He donated his time to set up the software. The other people to thank are the ones who donated to the BP PayPal account on the front page to pay for the software. We resisted putting up a message board for a while because we didn't want SunSports to be pissed at us, but when folks started stepping up wanting to help pay for the new software, we figured we couldn't say no. It is, almost literally, the people's website, in that respect.

Ugh @ the "conversations" on the newspaper blogs. What a troll fest, and some of the locals make me scratch my head too. I also don't get why they call themselves bloggers...that to me is the person posting the blog, not the person commenting on it. :noidea:

I still don't understand why they let things go so downhill at SSN, it wouldn't have been that draining on their resources to make it more presentable and have someone on staff to kick out trolls. Oh well, this is much nicer anyway. :) I second Pete in thanking Tim, he handles the servers & all admin type stuff and keeps it all running smoothly.

Somewhat OT: In Creative Loafing last week (freebie local weekly "indie" rag) they had a run down of best local blogs. They had sports blogs for every other team but the Bolts. Sports isn't their main focus but I was annoyed they had some Rays blog on there but not BP.

I've meandered over a few times. And they sourced BP at least once last week.

Yes, DannyBolt... it was Boltsmag. I still have a print out of my Hall of Fame entry article on that site. Everyone would vote for a poster a month into the HOF. My reward was that printout, I think.

SS seemed more intent on protecting the rights of trolls than making the regulars happy. That was part of their downfall. The mod there was very civil and kind in PMs, but had to keep up a front, it seemed, publicly.

My thinking is, it's only a matter of time until SunSports (name) is dropped from FSN Florida and it just simply becomes FSFL. Then everything gets split into territories (i.e Panthers viewers - south / Lightning - Central<North>) along with Gator, Marlin, Magic, Heat, Seminoles coverages and so on. Basically what I'm saying is the name Sun Sports gets dissolved. All the "interaction" gets absorbed into FSN overall.

With that said, they probably have no need (or wanting) to adjust the SunSports boards if the change is inevitable anyway. It also appears there won't be any increase in traffic relating to posters because the FSN message boards are overall pretty barren, not unlike the SunSports boards. We carried that Board, along with the Fishing folks. If it goes, wonder if they make the migration or I shudder to ponder if they'll be making gestures to jump... nevermind, don't want to jinx it. :doh:

There's an ignore feature in this message board system, though, right? I haven't looked for it because I haven't felt a need to use it (kind of funny because that was a sticking point that a lot of us wanted for the new board!) .. I mean, has anyone used the ignore feature? Awfully civil bunch, we are.

So I'm not worried if any of the trolls/chicken littles/why-the-hell-are-you-even-a-fan people migrate. They probably won't anyway because we all drink Kool-aid, right? :)

Made the same mistake today. I am not the most optimistic of fans but the venom spewed on SSN is unbelievable. Just give it up children.

Can't say I have been happy with the season (haven't been to a game this season after having 1/2 seaonn tix in the lower bowl or Jeep Club for the past 4 years) but what is the use of Vic-like bitching ad nauseum?

At one time Sun was a nice place. However since the start of this board one person has ruined a once nice spot.

Just happened to stroll on over to SSN (which a few sad souls are trying to keep alive with 3 post game threads) and they are FINALLY updating it. This is the announcement posted there:

Oh we certainly did, they just inexplicably abandoned the MB and it was all downhill from there. I've personally been trying to get an answer to an e-mail over there for a few weeks and nothing. The fishing dudes still like it, it seems.

I check that board about once a week, for the car crash factor. When TB loses, there is a rash of posts from the likes of Victor and Netminder reveling in the event. When TB wins, there's a scattered post or two, and they still bash the team.

I didn't see that but find it pretty odd. They'll most likely get more traffic than we do, and look at all the sub-boards we have! I only signed up because I figured there had to be more than just "public board" and I wanted to see what it was.
