View Full Version : Pens trying to get Adam Hall back?

Noticed this in a column on TSN. Not as flashy as Lecavalier but thought we might as well make note of it.

Pittsburgh's continued slump may force Penguins' general manager Ray Shero to fire his coach, but there is no immediate plan to do so. However, if the Pens losing skid continues through this week, Therrien may take the fall.

In the meantime, Shero is working the phones in an effort to bolster his lineup, with the return of Adam Hall a possibility if a deal can be worked out with Tampa.

Sounds crazy to say this, but I would not trade Hall unless they overpay... Here's a solid 3rd-4th round player who does a lot of things and is signed for two more years at a very reasonable $600,000... Those types of veteran guys who give you some value at a low price are hard to find.
It had better be no lower than a No. 3.

I think it would have to be a really good offer. Hall has done everything asked of him and more. He has been a successful pick up for sure.

If I could get a 3rd round pick for the guy, I might take it. We've got options like Downie and Smolenak in Norfolk waiting to bust through to the show.

Honestly, sooner or later, Downie's got to come up. He's ready.

I dont think we should trade Hall, I would rather see Pettinger (I know he cant go as he was a waiver pick up), Craig or Jokinen go first. As he has easily been the second best free agent signing (Malone best in my opinion).

I also like Hall a lot. But let's face it - there's a certain return at which the Bolts brass will be tempted. We have lots of lower-line options. This is a win-win situation, whatever they choose.

Right, maybe a 3. But he just shouldn't be discarded like some of the others because he really helps your cap.

And discarding him won't really help the cap much. In fact, I believe replacing him with Downie actually is more expensive. However, we know that Adam Hall will probably never be more than he is today, and this is a team that is still rebuilding. Do you give him a roster spot over guys like Downie, or Smolenak, or (dare I dream?) Harju? I don't think you can justify that in the long run.

And I am becoming a Pettinger fan, so I wouldn't jettison him just yet. I think he brings more to the table than Hall.

Id hate to see hall go. We get ourselves into penalty trouble quite a bit still and he really helps bail our asses out.

If we can get a good pick or some good emergency depth on D, do it. Make the room for Downie/Smoke. Hall is a great PKer though. I agree I would rather move Jokinen or Craig first however.
