Lightning send D Picard to Norfolk

02/26/2008 -

TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) - A day after acquiring him from the Philadelphia Flyers, the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday assigned defenseman Alexandre Picard to the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.

The Lightning acquired the 22-year-old Picard and a 2009 conditional draft pick Monday in exchange for center Vaclav Prospal.

Picard, who was a third-round pick of the Flyers in 2003, registered two penalty minutes in four games with Philadelphia this season while notching eight goals and 30 assists in 53 contests with their American Hockey League affiliate.

The 6-2, 220-pound Quebec native was selected to this year's AHL All-Star Game and recorded one assist.

Does this mean no Kuba deal?

Unless Picard gets one game for NF tonight to be introduced to the system, then is in Tampa for tomorrow night.

If he was on the ice for practice then we are still going to be blessed with his "playmaking abilities". I meant for the other team. God this sucks the big one.

Right now Norfolk has 10 dmen and 12 forwards. Seems a tad bit unbalanced.

I imagine some of those guys will get NHL looks.

Why haven't we traded Janik? No one wants him even for garbage pick? No sense in keeping him if you're not gonna dress him.

Why dress him when Boyle is going to play 37-40 minutes a game :)

Janik should be down or gone...but then why call anyone up to play 4 minutes a game.

I say sit all the money players, (let them rest up for playing 45 minutes a game next season) and let the kids play. I don't think a lot of the guys in the minors will ever be viable NHLers but now is the time to see. Shoot for Stamkos. Our luck, we finish last and lose the lottery.

We finished second to last that season(won last game putting them @ #2). Than they lost the lotto and screwed themselves out of Spezza/chuck.
