The WHL champion Kootenay Ice had stormed through high seeds in the WHL like Saskatoon, Medicine Hat, and Portland, but were handled rather easily by OHL champion Owen Sound and goaltender Jordan Binnington (2011). Binnington is ranked No.3 among North American goalies heading into next month’s draft, but this shutout certainly could help him jump a few spots in the draft. With the Lightning expected to take a goaltender at some time in the draft, he could be a possibility with their second rounder. Lightning prospect Geoffrey Schemitsch, who started on the third pair, had a helper for the Attack. Michael Zador watched from the bench as backup. The Attack play St. John next on Monday night on NHL Network.
