Coming off a stellar individual effort at the World Junior Championships (7 goals, 9 points), Panik scored a "nifty" (per durhamregion.com) shorthanded goal in his first game back at Guelph, helping the Storm to a shootout win over Oshawa. Panik was not called upon to participate in the shootout as the first two Storm shooters scored. The win was Guelph’s third in a row and they are 7-2-1 over the past 10 games. Panik is within one point of his OHL career high of 41, set last season with Windsor and Belleville. He has already set a new career high for assists.
