North American Juniors Game Day: 9/25/10

Connolly scores again ... Zahn finally scores ... multi-point effort for O'Donnell.

Penticton Vees 6 @ Prince George Spruce Kings 2
C Brendan O’Donnell, PEN: 0-2-2, 2 PIM (tripping)
Season Totals: 8 GP, 2-3-5, 6 PIM

O’Donnell registered his first BCHL multi-point game, and also earned his third tripping minor penalty of the season.

Val-d'Or Foreurs 2 @ Montreal Juniors 6
D Charles Landry, MTL: 0-1-1, E, 0 PIM, 3 SOG
Season Totals: 4 GP, 0-2-2, +4, 0 PIM

Montreal had leads of 4-0 and 5-1 on their way to an easy win over Val-d’Or.

Niagara IceDogs 2 @ Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds 4
D Brock Beukeboom, SSM: Did not play - suspended.
Season Totals: 0-0-0, +1, 5 PIM

Beukeboom, who had a fight in the season opener, missed Game 2 due to a suspension. His fight with Dalton Smith was considered a "second fight" as another fight had just taken place. By rule, both players were suspended. Apparently the Soo players were taunting Smith and others while celebrating their sixth goal. Beukeboom, the Soo captain, was left with a "busted nose."

Belleville Bulls 1 @ Niagara IceDogs 8
C Richard Panik, BEL: 0-0-0, E, 2 PIM (roughing)
2009-10 Season Totals: 60 GP, 21-20-41, +3, 55 PIM

Panik made his season debut after a somewhat surprising assignment back to juniors. It was speculated Panik would be playing in AHL Norfolk this year, but receiving a ton of ice time in juniors, where he failed to show consistent offensive production last year, should be very beneficial in the long run. Belleville outshot Kingston 44-29, but was stymied by Washington Capitals draft pick Philipp Grubauer, who backstopped Windsor to the Memorial Cup championship last season.

Guelph Storm 1 @ Owen Sound Attack 8
D Geoffrey Schemitsch, OS: 0-1-1, +2, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 2 GP, 1-1-2, +3, 0 PIM

Owen Sound responded to a close loss to Guelph Friday night with a snowman on Saturday night. Schemitsch earned at least a point in both games.

Prince George Cougars 6 @ Kelowna Rockets 2
RW Brett Connolly, PG: 1-0-1, +1, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 2 GP, 2-0-2, -1, 0 PIM

Connolly scored his second goal of the season to help Prince George avoid an 0-2 season start. This is a good start for both Connolly and the team.

Saskatoon Blades 6 @ Prince Albert Raiders 5
D Teigan Zahn, SAS: 1-0-1, +2, 5 PIM (fighting vs. Austin Bouhis)

Zahn scored his first goal since the 2008-2009 season, and also added a fight with Auston Bourhis after Bourhis ran the Blades goaltender. Saskatoon swept the weekend series with the Raiders. (StarPhoenix photo)
