NHL Game Night: 2-20-20 Lightning at Golden Knights

All good things...

TB-3
VGK-5

Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 5 goals on 33 shots for the loss. After having one of the all-time win streaks in NHL history he just had a mediocre performance tonight failing to make some situational saves to give his team a better chance.

It was a lamentable final half of this game, quite frankly, where the Lightning shot themselves in the foot with turnovers and penalty trouble and lost control of a game they were playing well in. Credit to Fleury for holding Vegas into this one in the First Period, and then once they got the Martinez goal late in the First Period they started to grow into it and nullified the Lightning's even strength play. And then the penalty trouble comes in and a really bad shift by Braydon Coburn to start the Third Period and... woof. If there was a silver lining it's the Lightning power play getting of the schnide with a pair of Stamkos markers. It wasn't going to stay in the gutter forever, so hopefully the long term affect of this game is that it was a speed bump for the team's even strength play (especially sans Point), but a jump start for what was ailing the PP.

Mitchell Stephens was -1 in 13:38 and 31% on 16 draws.
