NHL Game Night: 2-8-20 Islanders at Lightning

Lightning strangle the life out of Islanders attack.

NYI-1
TB-3

Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 1 goal on 18 shots for the victory. I've seen him sharper. Then again, I've also seen him face more shots in a period than he did in this entire game.

Brayden Point, Vasilevskiy, and Anthony Cirelli were the game's three stars.

Stifling performance by the Lightning defensively in all three zones. The Isles aren't exactly a supercharged offensive club to begin with, but the Lightning were just generally strong in their puck management and pursuit all game long, leaving the Isles with few chances and what few shot attempts they got were often blocked before they ever reached Vasiy. Crazy to think the Lightning can do this with their #7 and #8 d-men being pressed into service with Rutta and McDonagh out hurt.

Mitchell Stephens had a helper and was +1 with 3 hits and 1 blocked shot in 12:15. He was also 50% on 10 draws.
