NHL Game Night: 12-5-19 Wild at Lightning

Lightning suffer from late 90's quality goaltending on 90's night at Amalie.

Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 5 goals on 21 shots for the loss. One of the less mentioned things about this year so far has been the maddening inconsistency of Vasiy. He's oscillated between ok and pure garbage, and tonight was one of those nights where he was the dog's breakfast.

First Period
1:52 TB Cernak (2), (Point, Vasilevskiy)
9:33 MIN Eriksson Ek (2), (Greenway, Suter)
10:46 MIN Zucker (11), (Staal, Zuccarello)
11:14 MIN Soucy (3), (Zuccarello, Brodin)
15:57 TB Sergachev (4), (Shattenkirk, Paquette)

Second Period
18:47 TB Hedman (6), (Kucherov)(PP)
19:23 MIN Rask (3), (Fiala, Soucy)

Third Period
4:00 TB Killorn (7), (Cernak)
4:08 MIN Zuccarello (6), (Zucker, Brodin)

Mikhail Sergachev was the game's second star.

The Lightning dominated possession for large swaths of this game, but it's irrelevant when you're mentally soft when it comes to details and you get below replacement-level goaltending. The Lightning now are probably going to fall behind playoff pace by the end of this ten game set of the year because they now need seven out of eight remaining points just to tread water. That's unlikely when your goaltending keeps bobbing up and down.
