NHL Game Night: 10-26-18 Lightning at Golden Knights

Lightning treat the team from the Silver State like silver medalists on Nevada Day.

TB-3
VGK-2

Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 2 goals on 31 shots for the win. He was only beaten on a play where he was completely screened and a clean faceoff loss that led to an unchallenged shooter from the high slot. Otherwise, impeccable.

First Period
3:05 TB Johnson (4), (unassisted)
5:31 VGK Theodore (1), (Carpenter)
16:36 TB Point (6), (Stamkos, Kucherov)

Second Period
4:47 TB Miller (3), (Killorn, Sergachev)(PP)

Third Period
1:47 VGK Karlsson (3), (Tuch)(PP)

Tyler Johnson was the game's first star.

I suspect this game was one the Lightning were very interested in putting their best foot forward in after being swept by Vegas last season and blowing the lead last time they were out west to play this team. The Lightning manufactured a solid road win with a mix of a couple of greasy goals and a great play off the rush by the Stamkos line. One shot in the Third Period is concerning and you hate to go that far into the shell protecting a lead in the final frame, but at the end of the night they had the W in hand.

The Lightning now sit on 15 points through 9 games, meaning they've already banked 3 insurance points moving forward. 7 straight games with at least a point is a great look for the team, and they've seemed to get progressively better as the road trip has worn on.

Mathieu Joseph had 2 shots and 3 hits in 11:58.

Anthony Cirelli had 3 blocked shots and was 40% on 10 draws in 13:57.
