NHL Game Night: 1-16-20 Lightning at Wild

Comeback push comes a little too late.

TB-2
MIN-3

Curtis McElhinney allowed 3 goals on 23 shots for the loss. Not his best game.

First Period
14:17 MIN Parise (17), (Staal, Spurgeon)(PP)

Second Period
7:42 TB Kucherov (19), (Sergachev, Palat)
12:32 MIN Eriksson-Ek (4), (Kunin)
14:43 MIN Suter (7), (Greenway)

Third Period
9:32 TB Kucherov (20), (Stamkos, Cirelli)(PP)

Nikita Kucherov was the game's third star.

Might be fair to posit that the team, contrary to some things Stamkos said before the Kings game, has mentally checked out a little looking forward to the All-Star Break. That certainly looked the case for 40 minutes tonight, at least. 20 SOG is a very un-Lightning performance recently, and shows that something was off with the team's approach tonight.

Carter Verhaeghe was -1 in 6:53.

Mitchell Stephens was -1 in 11:07. He was also 75% on 12 draws.

Alexander Volkov had 2 penalty minutes in 7:28.
