NHL Game Day: 2-29-20 Flames at Lightning

Lightning snap losing streak by the skin of their teeth.

Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 3 goals on 21 shots for the win. He was not convincing today and needs to be better moving forward. Hopefully getting a W is enough to get him out of this mini-rut.

First Period
13:52 TB Johnson (14), (Sergachev, Kucherov)(PP)

Second Period
7:05 TB Palat (16), (Kucherov, Sergachev)(PP)
11:50 TB Gourde (10), (Paquette, Bogosian)(SH)
13:12 CGY Magiapane (17), (Backlund)
14:04 CGY Lindholm (28), (Gustafsson, Gaudreau)
14:57 TB Killorn (24), (Coleman, Coburn)

Third Period
17:11 CGY Monahan (22), (Lindholm, Tkachuk)(PP)

Mikhail Sergachev, Yanni Gourde, and Alex Killorn were the game's three stars.

This was another weird game, but unlike the Blackhawks fiasco the Lightning managed to get out of the rink with the two points. Like against Chicago, they were utterly dominant at even strength. Like against Chicago, they decided to try to blow their foot off late in the contest and give a deserved win away. The team just looks too fragile now and there needs to be a circling of the wagons with Stamkos ruled out until midway through the first round of the playoffs at the earliest (by my count).

Mitchell Stephens was -1 with 1 shot and 1 blocked shot in 9:34. He was also 29% on 7 draws. Stephens now six games shy of graduation from prospect status on the website.
