NCAA Game Night: 3-1-2014

Harvard Crimson 2 @ No. 11 Cornell Big Red 3 (OT)

F Brian Hart, HAR: 0-1-1, -1, 0 PIM, 2 SOG
Season totals: 28 GP, 6-8-14, -5, 18 PIM
2012-2013 totals: 29 GP, 4-13-17, +1, 10 PIM

Hart helped Harvard to an early 2-0 lead, but the Crimson gave it up and eventually lost in overtime to Cornell, 3-2. Former Bolt prospect Kirill Gotovets had a minor penalty for Cornell. He has three assists in this, his senior season. Speculation is Chicago won’t sign him and he’ll go to Europe to play. He’s from Belarus and has appeared in the World Championships for his home country.

Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs 1 @ Miami RedHawks 0

F Jimmy Mullin, MIA: Did not play
Season totals: 19 GP, 1-6-7, +3, 23 PIM
2012-2013 totals: 38 GP, 6-8-14, E, 14 PIM

Mullin was a scratch.

No. 10 North Dakota 1 @ No. 5 St. Cloud State Huskies 3

F Brendan O’Donnell, UND: 0-0-0, E, 0 PIM, 1 SOG
Season totals: 25 GP, 5-8-13, +3, 8 PIM
2012-2013 totals: 29 GP, 2-8-10, E, 20 PIM

UND failed to clinch the first Penrose Cup, falling to SCSU, 3-1 after the Huskies scored late into an empty net. The Huskies moved into a tie in the conference, leaving the title up for grabs for another week. UND plays Western Michigan; SCSU has Colorado College.

No. 8 Quinnipiac Bobcats 1 @ Clarkson Golden Knights 1 (OT)

F Matthew Peca, QU: 0-1-1, E, 0 PIM, 1 SOG
Season totals: 36 GP, 12-22-34, +5, 16 PIM
2013-2014 totals: 39 GP, 15-15-30, +14, 36 PIM

That’s hockey: One night after putting a snowman on the scoreboard vs St. Lawrence, the Bobcats could only score one against Clarkson. Matt Peca had an assist on QU’s only goal. He was coming off a 6-point night against the Saints.

Penn State Nittany Lions 1 @ No. 2 Minnesota Golden Gophers 2

G Adam Wilcox, MIN: Did not play
Season totals: 30 GP, 21-4-5, 1.94 GAA, .932 sv%, 3 SO
2012-2013 totals: 39 GP, 25-8-5, 1.88 GAA, .921 sv%, 3 SO

Wilcox got his second night off of the season and watched as Michael Shibrowski earned his second win. Minnesota leads the Big 10, just above Wisconsin. There are two weeks left.
