N.A. Juniors Game Night: 1/15

Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 1 @ Brampton Battalion 5
W Kyle DeCoste, SSM: 0-0-0, -1, 0 PIM
Season totals: 38 GP, 8-6-14, -15, 51 PIM
With SSM: 2 GP, 0-0-0, -2, 0 PIM

DeCoste failed to score against his former team, no more than a week after being traded to SSM. DeCoste has seen a rise in power play time and overall ice time since moving to the Greyhounds. Cody Hodgson had a hattrick for Brampton, and likely 2009 high first rounder Matt Duchene had a goal and assist for the Battalion. Duchene, who was a late cut from Canada’s WJC team, is ranked second behind John Tavares on Central Scouting’s mid-term list of North American skaters. Duchene, a 5’11”, 196-pound center, has 21 goals and 52 points in 33 games this year. He had 30 and 50 in 64 games last year in Brampton. Some scouts believe he'll battle Vancouver's Evander Kane for the No.3 spot at the draft after Tavares and Sweden's Victor Hedman (D).

Vancouver Giants 2 @ Edmonton Oil Kings 0
C James Wright, VAN: Did not play.
Season totals: 41 GP, 14-19-33, +18, 22 PIM
G Torrie Jung, EDM: Loss, 31 saves on 33 shots, *Third Star*
Season totals: 28 GP, 12-11-1-4, 2.48 GAA, .915 sv%, 2 shutouts

A noble effort from Edmonton and Jung defensively, but they were only able to muster 12 shots offensively.
