N.A. Juniors Game Night: 11/14

Another multi-pointer for Barberio ... five Firsts for Tokarski ... your Ugly Stat of the Day ... and who did Lightning co-owner Len Barrie watch his son with at the Vancouver-Kelowna game?

Victoria Grizzlies 4 @ Powell River Kings 2
W Justin Courtnall, VIC: 0-2-2, 0 PIM
Season totals: 25 GP, 7-18-25, 34 PIM

Courtnall has five points in his last two games.

Fargo Force 4 @ Sioux City Musketeers 1
D Luke Witkowski, FAR: 0-0-0,+2, 0 PIM, 0 SOG
Season totals: 9 GP, 1-1-2, +4, 40 PIM

Moncton Wildcats 4 @ Quebec Remparts 3 (SO)
D Mark Barberio, MON: 1-1-2, E, 2 PIM, 4 SOG
Season totals: 18 GP, 6-12-18, +11, 12 PIM

The CHL's No.1 ranked team has won a record 10 straight road games to start the season. Barberio scored on a screened wrist shot from just inside the blueline.

Victoriaville Tigres 3 @ Rimouski Oceanic 5
W/C Luca Cunti, RIM: Did not play.
Season totals: 20 GP, 4-12-16, -2, 12 PIM

Lewiston MAINEiacs 3 @ Drummondville Voltigeurs 8
D Michael Ward, LEW: 0-1-1, -4, 0 PIM, 1 SOG
Season totals: 21 GP, 3-7-10, -8, 33 PIM

Lewiston was outscored 20-5 in the two game weekend series with Drummondville last weekend in Lewiston. Now the Voltigeurs put a snowman on the MAINEiacs in Drummondville. Oh, the humanity.

Brampton Battalion 3 @ Guelph Storm 2 (SO)
W Kyle DeCoste, BRA: 0-0-0, -1, 0 PIM
Season totals: DeCoste: 19 GP, 5-3-8, -8, 17 PIM

Ugly stat of the day: Brampton is 15-6-0-0 on the year and has a plus-17 goal differential from their opponents, yet DeCoste has a minus-8 rating which is the worst on the team by 3.

Medicine Hat Tigers 3 @ Edmonton Oil Kings 2 (SO)
G Torrie Jung, EDM: Shootout loss, 29 saves
Season totals: 9 GP, 3-3-0-3, 2.96 GAA, .906 sv%, 1 shutout

This was Jung’s second straight shootout loss – and both were to Barry Melrose’s former team.

Spokane Chiefs 3 @ Prince Albert Raiders 2
G Dustin Tokarski, SPO: Win, 38 saves, *First Star*
Season totals: 18 GP, 11-4-0-2, 1.70 GAA, .948 sv%, 3 shutouts

Tokarski unofficially earned his fifth First Star of the season, and second straight … but these 2 goals-against games are killing his GAA stat-line [/sarcasm]. Tokarski made 14 saves in the third period to secure the win.

Prince George Cougars 1 @ Portland Winter Hawks 4
C/W Dana Tyrell, PG: 0-1-1, -2, 2 PIM (hooking)
Season totals: 21 GP, 16-14-30, -14, 23 PIM

Kelowna Rockets 3 @ Vancouver Giants 5
C James Wright, VAN: 1-0-1, +1, 2 PIM (unsportsmanlike conduct), *Third Star*
Season totals: 20 GP, 10-10-20, +14, 8 PIM

Of Note: Dave Sheldon, the Giants’ play-by-play man, reports Vancouver Canucks’ GM Mike Gillis was in attendance, seated with Len Barrie, co-owner of the Lightning (per Gregg Drinnan of the Kamloops Daily News). Barrie’s son, Tyson, is a defenseman with the Rockets. The younger Barrie (5'9", 22 points in 22 games in this, his draft year) had an assist in the game. Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reported at least one Canucks scout in the press box for the Lightning's 4-3 loss to Detroit Thursday.

Also of note: Vancouver’s Evander Kane (2009 draft eligible), the league leader in scoring, has registered at least a point in every game this year (20, 14-22-36). He was 1+1 and First Star this game.
