Elitserien Scores 1/26-1/31

A one game scoring explosion propels "Big Joe" to new heights...

Andreas Holmqvist assisted on Djurgardens' lone goal in their 2-1 loss to his former club Linkopings.

Janne Niskala had a power play assist and 2 penalty minutes in Frolunda's 4-2 loss to Lulea. Johan Harju was scoreless in the match for Lulea.

Andreas Holmqvist was scoreless in Djurgardens' 4-3 overtime win over Rogle.

Janne Niskala had a pair of goals, including one of the power play, in Frolunda's 4-1 win over Sodertalje.

Johan Harju had a power play assist and 2 penalty minutes in Lulea's 3-2 loss to Farjestads.

Johan Harju had 4 goals and 1 assist, all at even strength, in Lulea's 5-0 win over Brynas. Boom goes the dynamite.

Andreas Holmqvist had a goal (just 1?) and 2 penalty minutes in Djurgardens' 5-3 loss to HV 71.

Janne Niskala was scoreless in Frolunda's 1-0 win over Skelleftea.

Harju's quadruple goal effort against Brynas moved him into a tie for the Elitserien league lead at 24 with Martin Thornberg and Per-Age Skroder. His 40 points in 47 games is tied for 10th in the league in scoring. Harju smashes his previous career high, set last season, of 20 goals and 28 points, which he set in 51 games. His club Lulea currently sits in 4th on the Elitserien table, poised for a good playoff run.

Despite only playing a portion of the season with Frolunda after being reassigned by the Lightning, Janne Niskala has moved into the top-25 in the Elitserien in scoring amongst defensemen. His 8 goals and 16 points ranks him 22nd among Elitserien blueliners. Between Frolunda and Djurgardens, Andreas Holmqvist's 6 goals and 18 points would rank him tied for 16th in the league amongst defensemen, along with MODO's Victor Hedman, who may be the top pick in the June draft.
