After both teams held each other in check through the first two periods, South Carolina and Florida combined for five goals in the third period. The Stingrays came out on top by managing three goals on just five shots in the last twenty minutes; the Everblades, who rattled off twenty-three shots over the course of the final two frames, were largely foiled by the strong play of opposing netminder Ryan Zapolski (27 saves on 29 total shots). Pat Nagle got within a period of an impressive conclusion to his second start in as many nights but, after getting beat high to his glove-side for the first Stingrays goal, circumstances sabotaged his stat line as Nagle was bested by a screen and a tip-in out front on the second and third goals he allowed. FW Matt Beca and D Taylor Ellington scored for Florida with both goals coming on the power play and D Mathieu Roy registering the two primary assists. The trio of Lightning skaters in the match had quiet nights. Most notably, last week's Player of the Week, Hutchings, had his five-game point streak come to an end. Milan, after being penalized twice the night before, managed to stay out of the box. Maxime Langelier-Parent remains inactive. Florida (6-6-3, 15 PTS) finishes up its road trip with a three-game set against Colorado (6-6-3, 15 PTS) beginning Wednesday.
