A night after taking Game 1 off the hometown Mooseheads in overtime, the Islanders crushed Halifax with a seven-goal outburst to take both road games and go up 2-0 in the series. It’s beginning to look like the Mooseheads are missing their top line center Otto Somppi, who hasn’t played since the first game of the first round of the playoffs. After getting behind 6-1, Halifax reeled off three straight in the 3rd to close the deficit to 6-4, but the rally was too little too late. Charlottetown was paced with two goals each from Nikita Alexandrov (2019 draft eligible) and right-handed blueliner Hunter Drew (2018 draft eligible), with Alexandrov also adding two assists as well. The series shifts to Charlottetown home ice with the Islanders poised to take a stranglehold on the series when these two teams clash for Game 3 on Tuesday night.
