CHL Game Night: 11-7-09

DeCoste liking it in Belleville ... Ashton extends his point streak ... two prospects held off the ice.

Brampton Battalion 2 @ Belleville Bulls 3
RW Kyle DeCoste, BEL: 0-2-2, +3, 0 PIM, *Third Star*
Season Totals: 16 GP, 3-3-6, +1, 20 PIM
With Bulls: 3 GP, 1-2-3, +3, 0 PIM
With SSM: 13 GP, 2-1-3, -2, 20 PIM

DeCoste had his first multipoint game of the year, and it came against the team that traded him last season. DeCoste, who was on a two game point streak when the Soo traded him this year, seems to have found his groove. He is now on the plus-side of even for the season. He has never finished a season with a plus rating.

Erie Otters 6 @ Niagara IceDogs 2
G Jaroslav Janus, ERIE: Did not play.
Season Totals: 1 GP, 1-0-0, 3.00 GAA, .880 sv%
With Norfolk (AHL): 2 GP, 0-2-0, 1.52 GAA, .939 sv%

Janus did not play in back-to-back games and watched from the bench as Erie swept a home-and-home with Don Cherry’s old team.

Ottawa 67’s 3 @ London Knights 5
LW Matais Sointu, OTT: Did not play.
Season Totals: 16 GP, 3-5-8, +3, 6 PIM

Sointu, who has been battling a sore foot but played Friday, was out of the lineup on Saturday. Ottawa was up 3-1 in this game before losing it late.

Swift Current 6 @ Lethbridge Hurricanes 7 (SO)
RW Carter Ashton, LET: 0-1-1, -1, 4 PIM (tripping, elbowing)
Season Totals: 18 GP, 9-12-21, -5, 34 PIM

Ashton extended his point streak to six games as the Hurricanes scored six in regulation. No one with Lethbridge had more than two points on the night. Ashton did not score on his shootout attempt (second shooter), but fortunately both of his teammates did, giving the ‘Canes the win.
