CHL Game Night: 10/3

Ashton has five goals in his last three games ... The Soo keeps rolling ... Hutchings vs. Sointu.

QMJHL

Acadie-Bathurst Titan 3 @ Moncton Wildcats 1
D Mark Barberio, MCT: 0-0-0, -2, 0 PIM, 6 SOG
Season totals: 6 GP, 0-3-3, E, 4 PIM

Moncton held a brief 1-0 lead entering the third period, but dropped a close game to their provincial rivals.

OHL

Plymouth Whalers 1 @ Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds 4
RW Kyle DeCoste, SSM: 0-0-0, E, 2 PIM (tripping)
Season totals: 4 GP, 0-0-0, -2, 8 PIM

Wayne Gretzky’s OHL alma mater has now won seven in a row to start the year. DeCoste is still looking for his first point of the season after notching 14 points in 26 games after his trade to the Soo last year.

Ottawa 67’s 3@ Barrie Colts 4
LW Matais Sointu, OTT: 0-0-0, E, 0 PIM
Season totals: 6 GP, 1-2-3, +4, 2 PIM
LW/C Alex Hutchings, BAR: 0-1-1, E, 0 PIM
Season totals: 6 GP, 3-5-8, +3, 0 PIM

Barrie had to sweat out the win when Ottawa pulled within one with just under five minutes left in regulation. Barrie is 5-1 this year, Ottawa 2-3-1.

Windsor Spitfires 5 @ Belleville Bulls 4 (OT)
C Richard Panik, WSR: 0-0-0, +2, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 5 GP, 2-1-3, +1, 2 PIM

Windsor is proving prone to giving up goals in bunches – but they also score in bunches. They had leads of 3-0 and 4-1 before letting the Bulls tie the game. Fortunately for the Spits they won it in OT. Earlier this week they gave up three unanswered third period goals in a loss to Ottawa.

WHL

Lethbridge Hurricanes 9 @ Prince George Cougars 2
RW Carter Ashton, LET: 2-0-2, +1, 0 PIM
Season totals: 6 GP, 5-0-5, -9, 11 PIM

Lethbridge took out their early season frustrations on the Cougars, this time exploding for eight goals in the second and third periods to turn a 2-1 deficit into a blowout win. Ashton scored two – his second straight game with two goals. A late change to a goal in his previous game gave him a goal instead of an assist.
