Per the Tampa Tribune, following the Thursday's preseason game with the New York Rangers, the Lightning made 3 more roster cuts prior to leaving for Europe.
Tampa reassigned prospect defenseman Matt Smaby and forwards Zenon Konopka and Brandon Bochenski to the Norfolk Admirals training camp. Konopka and Bochenski will have to clear waivers before the reassignment is completed, and the these two will be placed on waivers Friday morning.

I'm in shock. I can't believe
I'm in shock. I can't believe they cut Smaby and kept Hutchinson and Mihalik.
I'll second that
I thought Smaby played quite well last night. The complete opposite of Mihalik the previous game. I haven't been able to see every game thus far, but from the last two, Smaby was head and shoulders above Mihalik and Lundin (waiver issues make Lundin a top candidate to stay, obviously).
The desperately needs a people-mover - especially for the PK - and Smaby and SOB providing that in the top 6 would have been moderately passable. Now? no idea.
