Cedrick Desjardins allowed 1 goal on 23 shots for the win in his first game back from injury. Desjardins has been on the shelf since a January 16th tilt in Charlotte, and returns not a moment too soon with Dustin Tokarski day to day with an undisclosed injury.

NOR Wright, (16) (Pouliot, Fornataro), 8:38

Second Period

Matt Fornataro, Marc-Antoine Pouliot, and Desjardins were the game's three stars.

Unfortunately, the win didn't net any gains in the standings as Norfolk tries to track down Charlotte and Hershey for 3rd and 2nd place in the East Division, respectively. Both teams won tonight, leaving Norfolk 1 point back of Charlotte with 2 games in hand and 7 points back of Hershey with 3 games in hand. Norfolk did gain 2 points on 5th place Binghamton and now hold a 7 point edge on the Senators with 1 game in hand. In the crossover, Norfolk holds a 9 point edge on Worcester with 1 game in hand.

The Admirals are now just a few points shy of the roughly 88-90 points they'll likely need to secure a playoff spot, as they now have 83 points with 13 games left in the regular season. Norfolk had 84 points at the end of last season, finishing just 2 points behind Bridgeport, which earned the final playoff spot in the East Division via the crossover rule. A win tomorrow night against Albany will help the club match its point total from all of last year. Norfolk has improved its point total in each subsequent season of its affiliation with the Lightning, which began in 2007-2008.
