The Gophers had a chance to upset the top-ranked team in the country, but the Mavericks broke a 2-2 midway through the second period and never looked back, winning 4-2. Minnesota State advances to the finals of the North Star College Cup in St. Paul. Bemidji State beat No. 7 Minnesota-Duluth in the other semifinal.

Barrie cut a 3-0 lead to 3-2 early in the third period, but a Greyhound power play goal assisted by DeAngelo extended the lead for the final time midway through the final frame. The Soo has won six straight games and are undefeated since DeAngelo and the other new additions joined the lineup.
