Defenseman Shawn Lalonde (Blackhawks 3/2008) scored the game winner late in the third period. DeCoste’s goal briefly gave the Bulls a 2-1 lead early in the third.

Janus, who reportedly has been battling “bumps and bruises” since returning to the OHL from Norfolk, did not make the trip to Guelph. He left the Otters’ previous game in the third period with an apparent leg injury.

Panik (pictured), who hit a post during the game, did not participate in the shootout. This was his second Third Star of the season. Windsor, the top-ranked team in the Canadian Hockey League, has at least a point in 19 straight games (17-0-0-2).

Zador was pulled briefly in the second period, but was re-inserted into the lineup when his backup gave up three goals on 11 shots.

The Hurricanes held a 2-0 lead in this game before watching that lead disappear. Ashton, Lethbridge’s fourth shooter, had his shootout attempt saved.

Witkowski’s minus-3 rating was the worst on the team for the night. The freshman continues to get solid minutes for the Broncos.

Barberio has three points in his last two games after notching two helpers against the defending QMJHL champs Thursday. Barberio is tied for 14th in scoring among Q defensemen, but third on the Wildcats after David Savard (Blue Jackets 4/2009) and PEI native Brandon Gormley (2010).

Janus was pulled midway through the third period with an apparent leg problem, the Canadian Press reported. The Otters snapped a four game losing streak while accumulating a season-high 46 shots.

After a 2-1 WHL win earlier this week, the WHL/CHL completed the sweep over Russia with a 4-2 win Thursday. The CHL (QMJHL, OHL, WHL) finished 6-0 against the Russians.

67's Send Sointu to Sudbury

The OHL's Ottawa 67’s announced Wednesday that winger and Lightning prospect Matias Sointu was traded to the Sudbury Wolves for goaltender Francis Dupuis.

According to the Orleans Star, the trade represents an opportunity to gain more playing time for Sointu.

“Here in Ottawa, we have a solid group of young forwards and with Corey Cowick coming back in the New Year it looked like Matias wasn’t going to get the minutes he needs to continue his development,” 67's coach Chris Byrne told the Star. “In Sudbury, I think he’ll be a top-six forward and have the opportunity to develop at a faster pace. We thank him for his contribution to our team and wish him well with the Wolves.”
