Koekkoek was named First Star in Windsor’s 5-1 win on New Year’s Eve. Koekkoek is plus-9 better than the second place player in the OHL’s plus/minus category. Considering Windsor is just fifth in the Western Conference, this is great for him and Tampa Bay.

Note: Jonathan Drouin (Canada), Adam Erne (USA), and Henri Ikonen (Finland) are away from their teams participating in the World Junior Championships.

Windsor scored 11 goals on just 26 shots en route to a blowout win in Michigan. Koekkoek raised his league-leading plus/minus rating to plus-36 with a team-best plus-5 night. Chris Kontos, Lightning record-holder for most goals in a game (4), had his son Kristoff playing in the game for Saginaw. Kristoff had a goal and three helpers and was third star.

Blujus notched his second goal of the year and his first since his first game of the season two months ago. North Bay outshot the Steelheads, 43-15, but needed the shootout for the extra point.

Brampton won again, this time over Jake Dotchin and Barrie. The Battalion have won four straight games. Dotchin fought Ben Thomson and was charged with instigating. Dylan Blujus had two hooking and one holding call against him.
