North American Juniors Game Night: 10-15-11

Not much to get excited about Saturday night. One streak ends, one continues - but not the right one.

USHL

Dubuque Fighting Saints 5 @ Green Bay Gamblers 2

G Adam Wilcox, GB: Did not play
Season Totals: 2-0-0, 2.50 GAA, .918 sv%, 0 SO

Correcting last night’s update, Wilcox made his second appearance of the season last night, stopping 31 of 33 shots in a win. He sat backup Saturday night.

QMJHL

Chicoutimi Sagueneens 2 @ Gatineau Olympiques 0

North American Juniors Game Night: 10-14-11

Big nights for Adam Wilcox and Vladdy Namestnikov...

North American Juniors Game Night: 10-13-11

OHL

Owen Sound Attack 2 @ Peterborough Petes 4

D Geoffrey Schemitsch, OS: 0-0-0, +1, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 7 GP, 0-2-2, E, 4 PIM

Assistant captain Geoffrey Schemitsch returned to the Attack lineup after missing three games. His last game he missed due to the flu, but was seen limping off the ice during the Guelph game on October 1. The defending OHL champs are second in the Midwest Division at 5-5.

QMJHL

Saint John Sea Dogs 1 @ Gatineau Olympiques 5

D Adam Janosik, GAT: 0-1-1, +1, 2 PIM (cross-checking), 0 SOG, 0 Hits
Season Totals: 7 GP, 0-6-6, -1, 9 PIM

Another day, another assist for Janosik. Gatineau welcome Saint John's Jonathan Huberdeau back from the Florida Panthers by limiting him to one shot on goal, no points, and a -1 rating as the Olympiques beat the reigning Memorial Cup champs 5-1. Huberdeau was signed to an NHL contract by the Panthers just a few days ago. Zack Phillips, whom Bolt Prospects thought would be a candidate to be drafted by Tampa Bay last summer, was also held scoreless. Phillips, a Wild draft pick, has 10 points in seven games this season. He was taken 28th overall in the draft.

Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 3 @ Moncton Wildcats 2 (OT)

D Daniel Milan, MON: 0-0-0, +1, 0 PIM, 1 SOG, 0 Hit
Season Totals: 7 GP, 0-1-1, -1, 11 PIM

Considering Milan played, he obviously wasn’t suspended for his major penalty for checking to the head in Moncton’s last game. Milan, who had 38 points last year in his rookie season, is off to a slow start statistically. Moncton leads the Maritimes Division with 15 points (7-6-1-0).

Lightning Sign 2011 Draft Pick Ondrej Palat

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed left wing Ondrej Palat to a three-year, entry-level contract today, Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced.

Palat, 6-foot, 174-pounds, was drafted by the Lightning in the seventh round, 208th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He is the first prospect from his Lightning draft class to sign a pro contract. He is also 20, which is 18 months-to-two-years older than the others in his class.
