Team WHL 2 vs. Team Russia 5
RW Brett Connolly, WHL: 1-0-1, 0 PIM
Russia finish the six-game Canada-Russia Subway Superseries with a 4-1-1 record versus the CHL for their first series win in the eight-year history of the event. They had won just two games in the series – in 2004 and ’07 – prior to this year. Lightning prospect Brett Connolly, playing in front of his home crowd, scored for the WHL. At that time, however, the Dub was already down 4-0 in the third period. Calvin Pickard (Avalanche) of the Seattle Thunderbirds stopped 19 of 23 shots in a losing cause for Team WHL.
