The Vees fell to eight points behind the Vipers for first in the Interior Conference after losing 3-2 Saturday. Although the score was close, the shot count wasn’t – Vernon had 43 shots to just 15 for Penticton. The Vees are now tied with Salmon Arm for second place.

Fargo exacted some revenge on Omaha for the Lancers beating the Force 2-1 Friday night. Mullin had an assist in that game – his first game back from injury – but did not find the scoresheet Saturday. Mullin did not convert his shootout attempt. Fargo won the shootout 1-0 in seven rounds.

TC came into the game four points behind Portland for first in the U.S. Division and ended the game in third, one point behind Spokane. Ten minutes into the first period the Winterhawks were up 3-0 and they went on to put up 54 shots and post a snowman against the Americans. This game turned ugly as there were four fights in the last minute of the game, including one after the final horn. Ashton is minus-6 in his last three games.

Prince George completed a two-game weekend sweep of Kelowna with a 3-0 victory Saturday. The Cougars entered the weekend nine points behind the Rockets for second in the B.C. Division. Connolly now has a three-game point streak.

A tough home loss for Penticton, who allowed Trail to pull within four points of them in the Interior Conference. The Vees remain in second in the conference, six points behind Vernon.

Mullin returned to Fargo’s lineup after missing two games with an undisclosed injury. The Force’s leading scorer managed an assist, but Fargo couldn’t get a win over Omaha.

After spotting the Otters a 4-0 lead, the Greyhounds mounted a furious comeback to make it 4-3, then gave up an empty netter. Beukeboom left the game early with a possible concussion after taking an elbow to the head. The Soo captain missed several games earlier this season with a concussion. A St. Pete Times report states Brock had one before being drafted, too. Brock’s father, former NHLer Jeff Beukeboom, had his career cut short by post concussion syndrome caused by multiple head injuries throughout his NHL career – the worst of which was a sucker punch from the Kings Matt Johnson.

O’Donnell scored on the power play with seven seconds left in the second period to cut the Grizzlies’ lead to 2-1, but the Vees fell in overtime to former Lightning owner Len Barrie’s squad. Despite his reported financial troubles, Barrie is still listed as co-owner of the Grizzlies.
