Brandon got some revenge on the WHL’s top team and the CHL’s No.2 team by coming back from a 4-2 deficit after one period and beating the Blades 7-6 in Saskatoon. The Blades had beaten the Wheaties 7-4 earlier this week. David Toews, Jonathan’s brother, scored the game winner with under four minutes to go. Toews left the University of North Dakota after his sophomore season to play Canadian Juniors this year. The Islanders pick has 15 goals and 36 points in 50 games.

Beukeboom left the game early with a possible concussion after taking an elbow to the head. The Soo captain missed several games earlier this season with a concussion. A St. Pete Times report states Brock had one before being drafted, too. Brock’s father, former NHLer Jeff Beukeboom, had his career cut short by post concussion syndrome caused by multiple head injuries throughout his NHL career – the worst of which was a sucker punch from the Kings Matt Johnson.
