Hutchings’ 34th goal of the year, scored late in the first period, turned out to be the game-winner for the Colts. It also tied a career high in goals for Hutchings, set last season in 63 games. He’s 11 points off his career high for points, also set in those 63 games. Hutchings scored on fellow Lightning prospect Michael Zador, who played well against the conference’s best team. Zador, who has been streaky all year, is currently mired in a five-game losing skid.

This huge match-up between two of Canada’s best teams went to a shootout, which the Sea Dogs won 3-1. Saint John is the top-ranked team in the CHL; Moncton sixth. Barberio set a new career high for points in a season, in 20 fewer games.

Wright’s second goal of the year gave the Giants a 3-0 first period lead, but the Giants would later squander that lead and need a goal with 12 seconds left in regulation to force overtime at 4-4. Wright did not participate in the shootout, which was won by TC 1-0.

Kevin Bailie started for the Generals but was pulled after allowing three goals in just over seven minutes of action. Zador stepped in and allowed the Rangers’ fourth goal within 40 seconds, but settled down after that to finish with 40 saves – but a loss.

Sointu scored for the second straight game and notched the second multi-point night of his brief OHL career. He had two assists on November 13 for Ottawa.

Despite being pulled in the first period against Ottawa Friday, Zador got the start again for the Generals. He lasted the whole game, but gave up six, with three coming on the power play.

Vancouver held a 2-0 at the game’s midway point, but Portland scored the next four and hung on as the Giants scored one early in the third to pull within 4-3. Wright, who is still trying to find his place in the lineup, is looking for his first WHL goal of the season. He had 21 in 71 games last season.

Wright started the game on a line with Lance Bouma (Flames 3/2008) and Tomas Vincour (Stars 5/2009). He was wearing his familiar No.19, which was taken before his arrival from Tampa. The Giants got a late goal from Vincour, then won the shootout 2-1 to break a losing streak.
