Jeff Costello notched his first pro goal Saturday night on the road in Charleston. Knowing the tough and pesky game that Costello plays, you might think it was a greasy lunch pail type of goal, but you would be wrong. Costello flipped a slick backhander 5-hole for Florida's fourth goal of the game. More good news from the Low Country with Lightning defensive prospect Artem Sergeev returning to the lineup after missing a couple of games with an injury. Florida next plays Sunday afternoon in Duluth against the Gladiators.

Allen Americans 3 at Wichita Thunder 2

F Danick Gauthier, WIC: 1-1-2, +1, 0 PIM, 4 SOG
Season totals (ECHL): 10 GP, 5-4-9, +4, 8 PIM, 24 SOG

D Daniel Milan, WIC: 0-0-0, +1, 0 PIM, 1 SOG
Season totals: 10 GP, 0-2-2, -3, 14 PIM, 9 SOG

Wichita mounted a spirited comeback in the final two minutes of the game behind a goal and primary assist Lightning prospect Danick Gauthier. Unfortunately, the Thunder could not manufacture the equalizer having gone down 3-0 during the first two periods. A bit difficult to justify losing 3-2 with the opposition only putting 17 shots on goal. Thunder goalie Tyler Bunz needs to be better there. For those keeping score at home, Gauthier is 4-3-7 with 20 shots in 7gp since joining the Thunder. Wichita hosts the Missouri Mavericks Sunday afternoon.

Allen York managed to stay sharp amid light duty against the Stingrays Friday night in Charleston, facing just 17 shots as the Everblades cruised to a 4-1 victory. Returning to the ice for Florida was Jeff Costello, recently reassigned from Syracuse in exchange for Everblade forward Kevin Lynch (who scored for the Crunch). Costello was a thorn all night under the Stingrays skin, logging two boarding minors, a high sticking minor, and a fighting major with South Carolina blueliner Wade Epp. Costello and Epp are no strangers as the Notre Dame and Northern Michigan alums played against one another numerous times during their recent four year college careers. Lightning prospect Artem Sergeev remained sidelined with an injury. The Everblades travel to Duluth, GA to take on back-to-back games against the Gladiators to finish up the weekend road trip.

The Everblades jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd period, but gave up the next three goals including the OT breakaway game winner to Gladiator forward Brenden Walker. Walker, 22, was the Gladiators' leading goal scorer last season in his first pro season after a prolific WHL scoring career with the Wheat Kings and the Blades. Lightning camper Mike Aviani assisted on Florida's second goal, but it wasn't enough to preserve Florida's five-game winning streak. Fellow camper Allen York sat backup to Carolina Hurricane prospect Daniel Altshuller, and Bolt prospect Artem Sergeev missed his second straight game due to a suspected injury. The Everblades return to Charleston and Duluth again next weekend for a three-in-three road tilt against the South Carolina Stingrays and Gwinnett Gladiators.

Hot off being named the ECHL Goaltender of the Week, Adam York notched his fourth straight win stopping 32 shots en route to a 6-3 road win against the South Carolina Stingrays. On Monday, the Blades re-acquired 2008 New York Islander 2nd round pick Corey Trivino whom had played his first pro season with the club in 2012-13 after finishing his college career with Boston University. The pending acquisition of Trivino is speculated to have been the reason Bolt prospect Danick Gauthier was loaned to Wichita instead of returning to the Blades. In his first game back with Florida, Trivino did not disappoint earning 1st Star honors after potting 2 goals including a penalty shot, running up a +4 rating, and dropping the gloves at the 20:00 mark of the 3rd period. Bolt prospect blueliner Artem Sergeev did not play, and while details are not clear, at least one source indicates that Sergeev was injured sometime during the week. Florida next plays in Gwinnett Saturday night against the Gladiators.

Adam York notched his second 1st Star effort in as many nights by pitching a 24 save shutout in front of a Saturday night home crowd in Estero. York has won 3 straight contests and now sports a filthy 1.95 GAA and asave percentage north of 91%. Those numbers are stellar for the traditionally high-scoring ECHL, and with back-to-back starts on Friday and Saturday, York is looking like the go-to guy in net for the Blades. Bolt prospect Artem Sergeev was on the ice for the final shift for the Blades protecting the two lead, and assisted on the empty netter with 2 seconds left. After 5 straight games against the Solar Bears, the Everblades are 5-1-0-1 and hit the road next weekend to play the Stingrays in South Carolina and the Gladiators in Gwinnett.

Bolt prospect Danick Gauthier introduced himself to the Wichita home fans with a 3rd Star effort by breaking open a third period 2-2 tie against the Missouri Mavericks Saturday night. Gauthier got the primary assist on the go ahead goal, and then added an insurance goal at 18:29 remaining. Fellow Bolt prospect Dan Milan assisted on the Thunder's opening goal just 50 seconds into the contest. The Thunder travel to Tulsa for a Sunday afternoon tilt against the Oilers.
