Panik Rings Up A Deuce On Saturday

Richard Panik notched two goals leading Team White in a 6-2 victory over Team Black in Saturday's Training Camp scrimmage. It was an impressive outing for the 2009 2nd round pick, who came to training camp still without a entry-level contract and questions whether his 2010-11 destination is Belleville or Norfolk. Swedish free agent acquisition Niklas Persson also made quite an impression tallying two goals of his own for Team White. James Wright scored a goal and added an assist, building upon his team leading efforts at the recent Traverse City prospects tournament. 2007 draft pick Johan Harju added two assists for White, while first rounders Carter Ashton, Vladimir Mihalik and Brett Connolly also assisted on goals.

Prospects Dustin Tokarski and Jaroslav Janus split 20 minutes each in net for Team White. Janus stopped a perfect 5 shots in light duty, while Tokarski turned away 17 of 19 shots.

DET - Smith, Ferraro

Richard Panik had a goal and scored two of the Lightning's three goals in the shootout. The Lightning's unlikely hero was tournament tryout and former Canucks draft pick Matt Butcher. Dana Tyrell also emerged to score his first goal of the tournament.

Two games in, Brett Connolly and James Wright are tied with several others for second in the tournament in scoring with 3 points each.

The Lightning will face Dallas' prospects in the final game of the round robin phase. They may end up facing 2010 first round pick Jack Campbell in the process, with the stakes being a spot in the knock-out round.
