Lightning prospect Daniel Milan assisted on the game winning goal just past the midpoint of the 3rd period to propel the Thunder to a 4-3 victory over the visiting IceMen. Milan now sports a season-high three-game point streak with 4 assists during that span. Fellow Bolt prospect Danick Gauthier unleashed a game-high six shots on Evansville goalie Scott Greenham, but was unable to hit the scoreboard. Wichita takes on the Central Division leading Allen Americans next weekend in an important back-to-back series.

The Everblades and Solar Bears battled to a 4-4 tie through regulation and overtime before the Solar Bears scored 2-0 in the shootout to take the 5-4 win. Lightning defensive prospect Artem Sergeev once again was not in the lineup for the Everblades. The Tulsa Oilers roll into Estero Wednesday for a 2 game tilt with Florida, the first ever meeting between these two teams.

Lightning prospect Danick Gauthier got the only assist on the game-opening goal just 90 seconds into the contest, but Evansville would reel off four straight by midpoint in the game. Fellow Bolt prospect Daniel Milan assisted on Wichita's 2nd and 3rd goals, the latter being a short-handed marker to draw the Thunder within one goal, but Evansville goalie Chris Driedger stymied all 10 of Wichita's 3rd period shots. The two teams play again Sunday to complete the back-to-back.

Allen York stopped 31 Solar Bear shots Friday night for his 3rd shutout of the season along with First Star honors for the game. Mitch Wahl, former Memorial Cup champion and Spokane Chief teammate of Tyler Johnson, broke open a scoreless game less than 2 minutes into the final frame. Jeff Costello added a power-play insurance marker 73 seconds later, earning a Third Star for his efforts. Lightning defensive prospect Artem Sergeev once again was not in the lineup for the Everblades. Florida and Orlando square off again Saturday night for the final frame of the back-to-back.

Wichita Thunder 4 at Quad City Mallards 1

Once again, the Thunder poured on three third-period goals as Wichita were victorious in the back-end of a home-and-home with the Mallards. Lightning prospect Danick Gauthier celebrated being named to the ECHL All-Star game by assisting on the go-ahead goal by former Blackhawk draft pick Jared Walker, and then tallying the Thunder's fourth goal, an empty-netter with just less than 2 minutes remaining. Gauthier earned First Star honors, and fellow Bolt prospect Daniel Milan was credited with an assist on Gauthier's empty-netter. With Friday night's road win, the Thunder flipped back ahead of the Mallards for 2nd on Central Division board behind the Allen Americans. Wichita returns home for a back-to-back Saturday and Sunday against the Evansville IceMen.

Once again, the Thunder rallied with three 3rd period goals to knot the game at the end of regulation. Former Fighting Sioux captain Mario Lamoureux scored the OT game-winner for Quad City to hand Wichita their 2nd straight loss and flipped the Mallards with the Thunder for 2nd on the Central Division board. Wichita and Quad City are back at Thurday night for the 2nd half of the back-to-back.

Note: Lightning prospect Danick Gauthier (aka the Wichita Wizard) was named to the 2015 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic presented by Visit Orlando in Orlando, FL on January 21. Gauthier is tied for second in the league with 13 power-play points (5g-8a) and he is second on the Thunder with 30 points (14g-16a).
