AHL Game Night: 11-21-18 Crunch at Devils

Surging Crunch move into a tie for second in the North Division.

SYR-4
BNG-1

Connor Ingram allowed just 1 goal on 30 shots for the victory, including some highlight reel variety stops in the mix.

First Period
3:33 BNG Pietila (5), (Gignac)(SH)

Second Period
9:41 SYR Verhaeghe (6), (Conacher, Barre-Boulet)(PP)
10:38 SYR Katchouk (2), (Dumont)
17:23 SYR Andreoff (8), (Conacher, Verhaeghe)(PP)

Third Period
19:06 SYR Conacher (8), (unassisted)(EN)

Carter Verhaeghe and Boris Katchouk were the game's first and third stars.

The Crunch are now unbeaten in their last eight games including seven wins in that span. Those 15 points have moved Syracuse from the out house in the North Division to just five points back of leading Rochester with two games in hand on the Americans.

What I'm saying is, Ben Groulx is some kind of powerful warlock.

NO SCORING

Alexander Volkov, Ben Thomas, and Boris Katchouk were the game's three stars. Volkov, who was among the last cuts from the Lightning's camp, had been notably absent from the goalscoring ledger throughout the early parts of this AHL campaign. Good to see him open his 2018-2019 account tonight and good to see fellow prized prospect Boris Katchouk go get a couple of helpers to boot.

Hopefully this starts the climb back up the mountain for the Crunch. They've got at least two games in hand on the rest of the North Division, so if they can string some W's together, they can quickly climb to the middle of the divisional pack with teams like the Sens.

10:40 CHA Gauthier (4), (Kuokkanen, Geekie)
14:24 CHA Saarela (1), (Necas, Bean)(PP)

Third Period
0:56 CHA Necas (1), (McKeown, Bean)
3:50 SYR Colton (1), (Verhaeghe)
16:43 CHA Bishop (3), (Brown, Nedeljkovic)(EN)

Carter Verhaeghe was the game's third star.

Give some credit to the Crunch for battling their way out of the 2-0 hole they originally dug themselves in the First Period, but in a span of a little under eleven minutes from the midway point of the game on they allowed three unanswered and on the wrong side of garbage time. Syracuse sits at the bottom of the North Division, and although they have at least two games in hand on every other team in the division it's starting to get a little concerning.
