AHL Game Day: 12-15-18 Crunch at Rocket

I'm not sure Syracuse knew there was a hockey game today.

SYR-0
LAV-4

Connor Ingram allowed 3 goals on 26 shots for the loss.

First Period
15:28 LAV Belzile (5), (Mete, Martineau)

Third Period
10:29 LAV Jevpalovs (6), (Sklenicka)
19:38 LAV Lernout (1), (unassisted)(EN)(SH)

The Crunch managed just 12 shots on goal. In the entire game. What a horribly flat effort.

AHL Game Night: 12-8-18 Americans at Crunch

Syracuse's points streak ends in a critical tilt against the division leader.

RCH-4
SYR-3

Connor Ingram allowed 4 goals on 33 shots for the loss.

First Period
1:18 ROC Simpson (8), (Cornel)
5:45 ROC Randell (1), (Dougherty, Hickey)
16:13 SYR Andreoff (11), (Barre-Boulet)

Second Period

9:49 ROC Olofsson (9), (Guhle, Asplund)(PP)
11:55 SYR Raddysh (9), (Stephens, Volkov)(PP)

Ingram was the game's second star.

Syracuse put forth a very game effort to try to pull off the Third Period comeback against the division leaders, but came up just short. They slip to third in the division with the loss, one point back of Cleveland for second place and six points trailing Rochester.

AHL Game Night: 12-7-18 Devils and Crunch

The Crunch Star disintegrates Bingo.

BNG-0
SYR-5

Connor Ingram had an 18 save shutout in unseasonably light work.

First Period
7:01 SYR Barre-Boulet (9), (Gaunce, Verhaeghe)(PP)
9:40 SYR Stephens (2), (Verhaeghe, Gaunce)

Second Period
12:37 SYR Verhaeghe (9), (Stephens, Barre-Boulet)
15:27 SYR Conacher (11), (Andreoff, Volkov)

Third Period
3:04 SYR Yan (5), (Stephens, Archambault)

Mitchell Stephens, Alex Barre-Boulet, and Ingram were the game's three stars. Stephens returned to the lineup after missing over a month of hockey due to injury and promptly put 1 goal and 3 points on the board. Not bad.

Syracuse is 4 points back of Rochester for the North Division lead with three games in hand on the Americans.

NHL Game Night: 12-4-18 Lightning at Red Wings

Yet another franchise that can't get out of their way against the Lightning no matter what the odds are gets demoralized by Tampa Bay.

TB-6
DET-5 (SO)

Eddie Pasquale allowed 5 goals on 24 shots before stopping 2 of 3 in the Shootout for the win in his first NHL start. I'm on the record as saying I'd have given Connor Ingram this start because he's the legit NHL prospect. I don't think Pasquale did much to make me a liar the way he leaked some soft goals and big rebounds all game, but in the end he stepped it up in the SO and got the victory.

Mathieu Joseph was the game's second star. Well deserved.

Tampa Bay's on the downside of a back-to-back playing their organization's fourth string goaltender, in essence, and Detroit had a pair of two goal leads in this game. Easiest thing in the world would've been for the Lightning to just get back on the bus. But, the depth and the want-to still overcame all the obstacles and picked up another two points.

Joseph with a cream of the crop stat line: 2 goals, 1 assist, +4, 2 shots, and 1 hit in 12:15. His most impactful NHL game thus far. Made an outstanding individual play on his first goal on a one handed chip over the netminder that had shades of that classic Vincent Lecavalier goal against the Thrashers back in the day. Got a tap in from a foot out after Gourde forced a turnover behind the cage and Joseph had an open net to shoot into. And then he set up the big SH tying goal by Paquette by sucking two defenders to him with his speed and hustle so the puck could squirt to the wide open chance for Dump Truck. Tour de force. He's flirting with a 20 goal pace and he's only playing 11-12 minutes a game.

Anthony Cirelli was -1 with 1 shot and 1 hit in 14:57 and he was 50% on 10 draws.

Erik Cernak had 1 shot, 1 hit, and 1 blocked shot in a personal high 21:55 of ice time. Played well soaking up the extra responsibility tonight.
