Gauthier, Danick
Prospect of the Week (3.6.12)
Submitted by chad on March 6, 2012 - 17:35
This season Bolt Prospects introduced our Prospect of the Week award, an honor (virtually) given to one Tampa Bay Lightning prospect for their on-ice contributions. There are no trophies or plaques, but we feel it’s second only to receiving a professional contract.
We wanted to highlight prospects throughout the year to help fans get better acquainted with the next round of Lightning stars while recognizing the prospect’s achievement on the ice.
This week’s BP Prospect of the Week award goes to … Danick Gauthier, C, Saint John (QMJHL)

USHL
Tri-City Storm 4 @ Omaha Lancers 3
G Adam Wilcox, TC: Win, 25 saves on 28 shots, *First Star*
Season Totals (with Tri-City): 25 GP, 12-13-1, 3.13 GAA, .909 sv%, 1 SO
Season Totals (with Green Bay): 9 GP, 7-2-0, 2.27 GAA, .918 sv%, 2 SO
He’s doing it again. After two bad losses to start the weekend, Wilcox was back in net for the third straight day and earned another first star in a Storm win. That gives him, unofficially, six in the last few weeks. With Sioux City idol on Sunday, Tri-City has taken over the final playoff spot in the USHL’s Western Conference. USHL observers say they have Wilcox to thank for that.
QMJHL
Acadie-Bathurst Titan 2 @ Saint John Sea Dogs 5 (Saturday)
C Danick Gauthier, SNB: 1-1-2, +2, 0 PIM, 2 SOG, 1 Hits, *First Star*
Season Totals: 61 GP, 42-35-77, +41, 61 PIM
Sorry folks, somehow I missed this late Saturday night, and it’s a shame because new Lightning prospect Danick Gauthier was first star for the Sea Dogs in their 5-2 win over the Titan. In addition to scoring a couple of points, Gauthier was 8/13 on faceoffs. His 42 goals this year are tied for second, eight behind leader Zack O’Brien of the Titan. O’Brien (undrafted) did not score against the Sea Dogs on Saturday. Gauthier is tied for 10th in the league in total points and is sixth in plus/minus behind five teammates.
Victoriaville Tigres 3 @ Gatineau Olympiques 2
D Daniel Milan, VIC: 0-0-0, -1, 2 PIM (interference), 0 SOG, 0 Hits
Season Totals: 57 GP, 2-8-10, -16, 59 PIM
With Victoriaville: 24 GP, 2-3-5, -3, 28 PIM
With Moncton: 33 GP, 0-5-5, -13, 31 PIM
D Adam Janosik, GAT: Did not play (illness)
Season Totals: 48 GP, 5-25-30, -13, 47 PIM
A day after putting up 10 goals on Moncton, Victoriaville only scored three in Gatineau on Sunday, but it was enough to win. Janosik continues to miss time with an illness. The Olympiques went 2-1 in his absence this weekend.
OHL
London Knights 1 @ Oshawa Generals 4
C Vladislav Namestnikov, LDN: 0-0-0, -1, 2 PIM (slashing)
Season Totals: 57 GP, 21-47-68, +19, 48 PIM
D Geoffrey Schemitsch, OSH: 0-2-2, +2, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 44 GP, 1-16-17, +6, 24 PIM
With Oshawa: 17 GP, 1-5-6, +3, 4 PIM
With Owen Sound: 27 GP, 0-11-11, +3, 20 PIM
For the second night in a row London was stymied by a hot goaltender, this time it was Kevin Bailie (undrafted) of Oshawa. Saturday night it was Petr Mrazek of Ottawa. Lightning prospect Geoffrey Schemitsch outpointed fellow Bolt prospect Vladislav Namestnikov in the game, 2-0. Schemitsch’s two assists were a season high and the most points he’s registered in a game since October 30, 2010, when he had three helpers. Namestnikov has fallen from among the league leaders in points to 22nd overall. Plymouth, who beat Sarnia on Sunday, closed to within two points of the Knights atop the Western Conference.

Wilcox couldn’t make it three straight games with a first star award as the first place Lancers put five pucks by him on Friday on their way to a big win. Tri-City is still one point out of a playoff spot in the West.
QMJHL
PEI Rocket 1 @ Saint John Sea Dogs 8
C Danick Gauthier, SNB: 0-3-3, +4, 0 PIM, 4 SOG, 0 Hits, *Second Star*
Season Totals: 60 GP, 41-34-75, +39, 61 PIM
Fresh off signing a 3-year free agent contract with the Lightning, forward Danick Gauthier had three assists to help the first place Sea Dogs to an 8-1 win over last place PEI. Gauthier is 10th in the league in total points now with 75. Florida Panthers first rounder Jonathan Huberdeau had four goals on the night for Saint John. The Rocket was outshot 41-15. To put things into perspective, Saint John leads the league with 94 points. PEI has 38.
Drummondville Voltigeurs 3 @ Gatineau Olympiques 4 (SO)
D Adam Janosik, GAT: Did not play (illness)
Season Totals: 48 GP, 5-25-30, -13, 47 PIM
Janosik was not in the lineup Friday night due to a virus that’s spreading through the Gatineau locker room. Sound familiar?

The Tigres sit in the fifth spot on the QMJHL table after picking up a point in a shootout loss on Friday.
OHL

D Geoffrey Schemitsch, OSH: 1-0-1, -1, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 42 GP, 1-14-15, +3, 22 PIM
With Oshawa: 15 GP, 1-3-4, +1, 4 PIM

C Vladislav Namestnikov, LDN: 1-0-1, +2, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 55 GP, 21-47-68, +19, 44 PIM
It’s over! Schemitsch’s (pictured) streak of 86 regular season games without a goal came to an end when he scored an unassisted marker on Friday night in London. It was his first goal since the first game of the 2010-2011 season when he was with Owen Sound. On the other side of the ice, former Lightning prospect camper Seth Griffith had a hat trick for the Knights. He has 44 goals this season. His usual set-up man, Lightning prospect Vladislav Namestnikov, was moved off Griffith’s line.
