After falling behind 3-0, the Thunder once again mount a spirited comeback scoring the next three and forcing overtime. Unfortunately, hanging 49 shots on the Tulsa goalie wasn't enough to avoid the shootout loss. Lightning prospects Danick Gauthier and Daniel Milan both notched assists, with Gauthier's coming on the power play. Gauthier was one of four Thunder shooters that failed to convert in the skill contest to decide the outcome. Wichita hosts the Mavericks from Missouri Saturday night before traveling back to Tulsa for a rematch against these Oilers.

A night after being scratched, Lightning camper Mike Aviani pots Florida's 3rd goal of the 1st period in Sunday afternoon's road game victory over the Gwinnett Gladiators. Jeff Costello assisted on Aviani's goal, the night after scoring his first professional goal. Allen York was rather pedestrian in net, allowing 3 goals on 22 shots, but when your offense puts a touchdown up on the scoreboard you don't have to be stellar to get the win. Lightning prospect Artem Sergeev was whistled 55 seconds into the game for his first penalty of the season. Both teams had their power play clicking at 50%, but the high octane Everblade offense overwhelmed the Gladiators amid a 40 shot barrage. Florida captured all six points on the weekend three-in-three road trip, and the Everblades return to Estero 1st on the table in the East Division and 2nd in the conference behind Fort Wayne. Gwinnett makes the 9-hour trip down I-75 from Duluth to Estero for a back-to-back rematch against the Everblades next Friday and Saturday night.

Wichita earned a much needed victory Sunday afternoon against the visiting Missouri Mavericks, and once again Lightning prospect Danick Gauthier was in the thick of the scoring. Gauthier was credited with the primary assists on both of the Thunder's first and third goals, with that 3rd goal being a crucial power play insurance marker with just 85 seconds left in the game. Gauthier finishes the 4-game week with a gaudy stat line of 2-4-5 with 20 shots and a +3 rating. The Thunder next plays Tuesday night in Tulsa against the Oilers.

Jeff Costello notched his first pro goal Saturday night on the road in Charleston. Knowing the tough and pesky game that Costello plays, you might think it was a greasy lunch pail type of goal, but you would be wrong. Costello flipped a slick backhander 5-hole for Florida's fourth goal of the game. More good news from the Low Country with Lightning defensive prospect Artem Sergeev returning to the lineup after missing a couple of games with an injury. Florida next plays Sunday afternoon in Duluth against the Gladiators.

Season totals: 10 GP, 0-2-2, -3, 14 PIM, 9 SOG

Wichita mounted a spirited comeback in the final two minutes of the game behind a goal and primary assist Lightning prospect Danick Gauthier. Unfortunately, the Thunder could not manufacture the equalizer having gone down 3-0 during the first two periods. A bit difficult to justify losing 3-2 with the opposition only putting 17 shots on goal. Thunder goalie Tyler Bunz needs to be better there. For those keeping score at home, Gauthier is 4-3-7 with 20 shots in 7gp since joining the Thunder. Wichita hosts the Missouri Mavericks Sunday afternoon.

Hot off being named the ECHL Goaltender of the Week, Adam York notched his fourth straight win stopping 32 shots en route to a 6-3 road win against the South Carolina Stingrays. On Monday, the Blades re-acquired 2008 New York Islander 2nd round pick Corey Trivino whom had played his first pro season with the club in 2012-13 after finishing his college career with Boston University. The pending acquisition of Trivino is speculated to have been the reason Bolt prospect Danick Gauthier was loaned to Wichita instead of returning to the Blades. In his first game back with Florida, Trivino did not disappoint earning 1st Star honors after potting 2 goals including a penalty shot, running up a +4 rating, and dropping the gloves at the 20:00 mark of the 3rd period. Bolt prospect blueliner Artem Sergeev did not play, and while details are not clear, at least one source indicates that Sergeev was injured sometime during the week. Adam York notched his second 1st Star effort in as many nights by pitching a 24 save shutout in front of a Saturday night home crowd in Estero. York has won 3 straight contests and now sports a filthy 1.95 GAA and asave percentage north of 91%. Those numbers are stellar for the traditionally high-scoring ECHL, and with back-to-back starts on Friday and Saturday, York is looking like the go-to guy in net for the Blades. Bolt prospect Artem Sergeev was on the ice for the final shift for the Blades protecting the two lead, and assisted on the empty netter with 2 seconds left. After 5 straight games against the Solar Bears, the Everblades are 5-1-0-1 and hit the road next weekend to play the Stingrays in South Carolina and the Gladiators in Gwinnett.

Everblade netminder Allen York and his Stingray counterpart Adam Morrison put on a goalie clinic Saturday night as each allowed just one goal each in regulation and overtime before going 8 rounds deep in the shootout before York surrendered the game winner. York stopped 17 shots in his season debut, but took the tough luck shootout loss. The Blades picked up 3 of 4 points in their opening two-game weekend series with South Carolina, and play their next 5 games against Orlando starting with a three-in-three on October 24 in Estero.
