Colton, Ross

AHL Game Night: 2-29-20 Americans at Crunch

Wedgewood stands on his head to spur Crunch victory.

RCH-2

5:07 SYR Katchouk (13), (Bird, Somppi)

Alexander Volkov and Wedgewood were the game's first and second stars.

Periodic reminder that Ross Colton is quietly killing it with 2-11-13 in his last 11 games, spitting out helpers like a Pez dispenser.

With points in nine of their last ten games, Syracuse has a three point cushion on fifth place in the North Division and sits just two points behind Utica for third place. However, other than Laval, the competition all has two or three games in hand on Syracuse, so they must keep streaking to keep postseason dreams alive.

Another quality start by Martin fuels Syracuse win.

LV-1
SYR-2

Spencer Martin allowed just 1 goal on 24 shots for the win. That's five quality appearances for Martin in a row, as he's settled into a more manageable workload since Wedgewood returned from injury.

Second Period

Third Period
10:33 SYR Masin (2), (Colton, Witkowski)
19:02 LV Twarynski (5), (Bigras, Ghostisbehere)

Alex Barre-Boulet, Martin, and Dominik Masin were the game's three stars.

Don't look now, but Ross Colton has 1-8-9 in his last eight games.

Syracuse has opened up a two point lead on Bingo for fourth in the North Division and they are just three points back of Utica for third, although the Comets hold two games in hand. Most teams in the division hold games in hand on Syracuse in this tight race, so it's incumbent on them to continue streaking if they want to stay in playoff shape.

Four goal Third Period helps Comeback Crunch stave off slipping down to the .500 mark.

RCH-4
SYR-5

Spencer Martin allowed 4 goals on 24 shots for the victory. Julien BriseBois needs to please, for the love of God, do something about the goaltending situation in Syracuse. Please. Martin's got an .888 save percentage now, for crying out loud.

First Period
5:55 RCH Randell (5), (unassisted)
10:43 RCH Gilmour (4), (Smith)

Second Period

Third Period
2:47 SYR Raddysh (8), (Colton, Joseph)
4:14 RCH Dea (12), (unassisted)(SH)
8:36 SYR Katchouk (8), (Thomas, Raddysh)
11:45 SYR Sielhoff (2), (Conacher)
17:32 SYR Walcott (4), (Smith, Conacher)

Taylor Raddysh, Ross Colton, and Boris Katchouk were the game's three stars. Nice result for the Lightning's prospect forwards and their development.

Syracuse ended up outshooting Rochester by about a 3:2 margin, but I'll say it again: this is a very frustrating game when your team has to work that much harder just to get a goal because goaltending is not what it should be. Syracuse has the worst GAA in the Eastern Conference right now having surrendered 129 goals in just 37 games. Having the third most goals in the East will remain irrelevant until Syracuse can keep fishing it out of the back of their own nets.
